DNC to ask Sanders, Clinton to denounce Nevada behavior

DNC to ask Sanders, Clinton to denounce Nevada behavior
By Jonathan Easley - 05/17/16 02:31 PM EDT

The chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee on Tuesday said chaos on the floor of the Nevada State Democratic Party convention last weekend was "troublling."

“We will be reaching out to the leadership of both of our campaigns to ask them to stand with the Democratic Party in denouncing and taking steps to prevent the type of behavior on display over the weekend in Las Vegas,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.), the DNC chairwoman, said in a statement.

“Our democracy is undermined any time threats, intimidation, physical violence or damage to property are present. If there are legitimate concerns, they must be addressed in an orderly, civil and peaceful manner.”

... the actions without upsetting (too much of) his base? As another gift to Sanders that allows him to condemn (in a generic way) any sort of violence without having to specifically address that which came from his supporters?

Just my opinion.

10. You mean the ones that Bernie has protested and challenged?

Oh. He hasn't.

That's probably because it exists only as the fevered conspiracy theory fantasy of the great and high apostles of the revolution. Either that, or Sanders doesn't really care enough about "the revolution" to bother with it.

If it were real, and he cared, he would challenge.

14. Then I guess the great leader of the revolution doesn't care enough about it to challenge.

How sad for the revolutionaries.

It was all CGI paid for by the VAST RW conspiracy that we all hear about. You know the same people that are in control of the AG,FBI and Obama that forced him to start the investigation on Clinton's email.

what it would do for the Democratic Party, especially against any Republican challenger, if they were to unite against any possible election fraud? To ask that they denounce violence before addressing that issue is putting the cart before the horse.

Problem fixed. Ordinary voters know that their candidate might win or might lose -- that's why we have elections. There is no reason to get angry about a fair election.

Democracy is also undermined when it is bought and paid for, which is when people get cut out of the process, and others are appointed with disproportionate voting power. Sure, parties can set their own policies, but the DNC's are not representative of a democratic system, and some people like it that way.

Violence certainly won't help a non-violent platform like Sanders has, and I don't support or condone it ever, but this whole push seems to be about trying to hang purported violence around Sanders neck, which of course is what they're trying to do. If the DNC had thrown us a bone and said that they were looking at rectifying certain troubling decisions of theirs then maybe I'd buy that they really respect those legitimate concerns, but there's only one agenda here.
