A Virgin Islands superdelegate who was supporting Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has flipped his support to front-runner Hillary Clinton .
Emmett Hansen II, the Democratic National Committeeman for the Virgin Islands originally backed the Vermont senator but decided to switch after learning more about Clinton's plans for the U.S. territories, Bloomberg News reported Tuesday.
There are no more windmills to joust against and no more mountains to climb, Hansen said. It comes down to one thing: whats best for the Virgin Islands, to be fully incorporated into the United States.
Sanders hadn't given concrete positions regarding U.S. territories, Hansen said, adding that he'd been in talks with the campaign trying to get answers.

(146,192 posts)more pledged delegates added to her count. Whether she wins or loses, she will get additional delegates. That's what the poster meant. You understand that those delegates are allocated proportionally, right? The number of delegates she needs, along with the super delegates, will go down after the results come in. Win or lose.
The super delegates aren't going to switch from Hillary to Bernie. That's not going to happen, and they're part of our nominating system.

(28,762 posts)to have a candidate who is a member of a small group of people having so much control over the Democratic party.
MineralMan
(146,192 posts)If you want to change that, you'll have to become part of the party's leadership, to be quite frank.
Presidential nominations are a function of the political parties. If you don't like the existing parties, you can start a new one. If you want to be part of an existing party's decision-making, you need to become active in the party organization and work your way up to a leadership position.
That's what the current party leaders did. You can also become a candidate for an elected office for that party. That's a shortcut way to be part of party leadership.
Every super delegate is a party leader or elected member of Congress or governor. Political parties are how we select our presidential nominees. If you want to change that, you'll need to start a new party or join one that already exists.
Simple, huh?
