(50,254 posts)Why DO you hate the progressive candidate and his supporters, btw? If he hadn't run, your candidate would still be 100% DLC/Third Way/Blue Dog on the issues...and we don't ever need to nominate someone who'd be that far to the right again.

(1,446 posts)Even if we were to just look at these two incidences, and use total numbers of votes for Clinton and Sanders...then find the percentage of aggressive/violent people (one person on the Clinton side, and several hundred on the Sanders), you would see why more attention is being paid to the Nevada story. Just because a thrown chair didn't hurt anyone does not make it less of a violent act.

(4,311 posts)The actor punching the woman (which is a horrible act and he should have been arrested, which he was) was between two private citizens.

I only see a violent attack on our Democracy. A voice vote denied. And a Democratic process Dictated

(1,065 posts)in that convention. No, I'd say people DENY it. Yet, there's video evidence. I don't care if it was Hillary supporters that got denied I would still be outraged! I wouldn't stand for it! A voice vote shut down, Democracy used as a Dictatorship. If you guys had the voice vote but it was ignored, and you couldn't contest it. I don't care who the supporters were because that's an assault on what I and many others have fought for. An assault on our freedom and Democracy.
This feels Republican vs Democrat.

(4,490 posts)Everyone just ran with what one guy wrote without verifying sources. Not the first time it has happened, and won't be the last. The whole thing was recorded and multiple eyewitnesses said no chair was thrown that they could tell.

In your world, if it doesn't appear on video, then it couldn't have happened?

(8,541 posts)A better variable would be to use the rally attendance totals as that's when the likelihood of acts of violence would happen.

(5,272 posts)Yes, it's stooping pretty low of Hillary supporters to get behind any expected efforts by the Hillary campaign and the rest of the establishment to paint Bernie supporters as violent, and I think people should start taking a hard look at themselves and the lengths they are willing to go to vilify the other candidate with hearsay and anecdotal evidence to prop up theirs. But I'm going to reserve judgement on this one until Wendel Pierce is found guilty.
For that matter, once he has(assuming it goes that way), it may be fair to bring up in counter to broad brush claims about Bernie supporters, but unless to point out hypocrisy(as this op does) I for one won't be dredging it up to characterize Hillary supporters at large. It doesn't represent them any more than any single or curated sample group represents Bernie supporters.

(16,184 posts)DU's Sanders supporters have made an absolutely shameful display the last few days. Justifying, defending, and excusing death threats against the NV party chair (hell, an OP with quite a few recs published her private fucking phone number), justifying and excusing the abuse thrown at Senator Boxer, and once again blaming the party for their own damned misbehavior.
Bradical79
(4,490 posts)There were no riots or a bunch of people excusing death threats. You're just being intentionally dishonest to stir up shit.
