Democratic Party Establishment should expect a LOT more of this...

Independents Will Soon Outnumber Republicans and Democrats Combined <--------------still gunning for "closed primaries?" Pretty dumb.

45% of voters now self-identify as independent.

A recent NBC poll confirms that the partisan political environment is, in fact, taking a toll on the two major parties, with voter registration revealing that self-identified independents are the fastest growing voting bloc in America.
NBC commentators coin it “the rise of an ‘independents’ era,” reporting that in 2014 the number of people self-identifying as independent was at 39 percent, passing that of Democrats (32 percent) and Republicans (23 percent).

As of June 2015, the number of self-identifying independents has grown to 45 percent — just 2 points shy of the number of Democrats and Republicans COMBINED.

The largest political party in the United States in no longer a party at all,” NBC commentator Chuck Todd reports.

The more Hillary's "correct the record" paid bots & her co-opted corprat media tell outright lies about Sanders and condescend to his supporters, the more support SHE loses.

The contrived tactics from @DWStweets and her corprat cabal to shove a WEAK, compromised, 1960s Republican into the White House are costing her and the party. Next election, Independents will be a larger group of voters than either party. Clinton supporters had better GROK the FACT that she NEEDs Sanders supporters' votes to win..speaking of "how the process works"

I was lectured by one of her condescending bullies about "how the process works" - it is by gross manipulation by party apparatus in favor of one Dem candidate apparently, judging by what happened in NV.

I'd suggest canning the sneering condescension. Bernie's people KNOW "how the process works". They ALSO know "the process" is being and has been manipulated at almost every turn to shove Hillary into the nomination, even though she IS the weaker candidate against TRUMP.

In the end, we either have President Trump or President Clinton AND a highly fragmented party, the majority who will have left to be "Independent". And if The Democrats want to continue having "closed primaries" after THAT then they truly are fooling themselves. Not anyone else. THEMSELVES - and their soon-to-be-minority of voters.

Just some things to THINK about while sneering and condescending to Bernie's supporters with patronizing remarks and accusations about violence that never happened just to make Sanders or his supporters look bad on an Election Day (again).

Every primary day on multiple Tuesdays for the past several months, these tactics are brought out.

And they are hurting HER and they are hurting the DEMOCRATS more than Sanders, in the long run.

Run the nasty and patronizing remarks past a brain cell or two perhaps before posting them here or anywhere else.

JUST A SUGGESTION.

Because PROGRESS is about moving forward and this IS going to happen in spite of The Democratic Party and regardless the machinations to plop Hillary in the Oval Office. We can do it WITH or WITHOUT the DNC.

It's THEIR choice to make.

apparatus destroy progressive candidate after progressive candidate after progressive candidate in favor of either a Republican or a DLC type (Republican Lite).

I always vote Dem, regardless.

The thing is, all these years, MANY Democratic voters are moving LEFT and back to FDR-style ideologies while their party has moved RIGHT. I'm not the only one who's noticed the DNC/DLC's habitual and systemic marginalization and destruction of truly progressive candidates the past several elections. Millions have noticed and they're getting frankly, PISSED.

I believe this is the fork in the road. DNC has chosen to stay center-right (and that is really pushing the definition, IMO).

I believe it's now going to COST them to do it. They might squeak Hillary in this election. But after that? They had better have a re-think about where they're going. Because if they continue on their current path, they may find that a majority of progressives will not go with them.

It's THEIR loss, not ours.

politicians and the younger generation faced with a lower standard of living.

CLinton can be attacked for selling out blue AND white collar workers. That is not a fixable problem.

Trump will attack her on being incompetent, the corruption, and the women. Young voters (and others for that matter) are having a very hard time understanding why in the hell the Democratic Establishment would be embracing Clinton.

When it comes right down to it, there is only one answer as to why they are.

And tonight Hillary will squeak by in Kentucky only because there were numerous campaign stops made by both Hillary and her husband and a slew of TV ads. Kentucky - a state she should have won in a walk. A state both her and her husband owned in the past. Her campaign is looking worse every day.

but her backers have got to be worried about this. They know the history on Kentucky. They know this is a closed primary and that she & Bill spent a great deal of time here and spent a lot of money on ads and still barely beat him. That's not a positive for her. Oh sure, it will be spun as one but anyone who knows politics knows this was not really a WIN for her. On paper yes it was a win but in the minds of her backers and the establishment there has got to be a lot of worried people.

I still recall my reaction in fifth grade when I learned a classmate's family was Republican. I thought EWWWWW!

But.... after the first Clinton and the DLC and Obama (yes I voted for both of them twice). Now the cognitive dissonance is finally too much. Why the fuck should I vote for someone who does not represent me; who, in fact, is the polar opposite of what I want in a political leader? How much fucking sense does that make? I can't do it anymore.

And now I think I've had enough.

If the Millennials manage to crush the DWS-Clintonian corporate Wall St. DINO types and wrestle the party back to its populist roots in the next decade or two, I will come back. But I'm not holding my breath. The legalized bribery system we have now has ruined our democracy for the foreseeable future.

I have a silly, or perhaps uneducated question to ask.

If you live in a state that doesn't require registering for a party,

how do they know what party you align with ?

When you register to vote in Ohio, you do not register for any party.

How do they know if you switch ???

But - here in Florida, it will be noticeable if a lot of people leave.

I am not trying to make any sort of grand statement by leaving the party - I just no longer want to be associated with it. it is distasteful to me. My grandson registered this year, so he could vote for Bernie, and now we will both re-register as unaffiliated. The new young voters feel no party affiliation whatsoever, they just look at candidates and issues. Imagine that.
