2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton wins 7 out of the last 10 contests. Time for Bernie to go
She has the momentum and Bernie's chances of catching are gone. He could win all of the remaining delegates and still not have enough to clinch the nomination - meanwhile Clinton only needs 120 more votes.
Time for Bernie and his supporters to acknowledge reality and pack it up. It's over.

(21,328 posts)time ago and that it wouldn't really be contested by that point. But for the general election Sanders doesn't stand a chance there. The exit polls taken there showed that. 40% of his own voters would vote for Trump over him in West Virginia. The Democratic Party is a shattered husk there.

(587 posts)Large, densely populated areas have more voters and more votes, and take longer to count... and those areas tend to vote for Clinton.
But I'm sure you're right... there are illuminati and secret operatives pulling the strings behind the scenes... but they are not smart enough to do it surreptitiously, so they shit themselves at the last moment and dump a bunch of votes into the pool - allowing sharp Sanders supporters to pick up on it.
Yeah, gotta be the second one.

Ostrich maneuver. Good choice... hiding from reality always works well.

(3,733 posts)He's already way past his use by date.
And now his supporters have gotten out of control and
gone to threats of violence and alleged actual violence.
Time for Bernie to call it a day.
His revolution failed to materialize.

(57,936 posts)We Bernie supporters want Bernie to continue. We are building a movement. It isn't just about winning or losing this nomination.
And what will Hillary have when she wins? A divided party, that's what. She had better be nice to us Bernie supporters. Let's see what kind of deals she is willing to make because she will need our votes in November.
We in California really want to vote.
I was registering (nearly all Democrats) on a college campus today in California. Millennial want to vote for Bernie.
We are going to form a movement.
Just let us be.
As far as Hillary's campaign -- her money? Easy come, easy go.
Bernie's money is from us. We want him to spend it on his campaign.

(3,111 posts)to be one. Your anxiety just confirms the weakness of your cause.
As far as I know, our cause is not weak. We are in it to win it. We are in it because we are passionately committed to what we stand for, and we think it is best for this country and for the Democratic Party. We are in it despite the best attempts by your side to shit on us and even arguably rig the system. I don't think we will EVER STOP fighting for Progressive ideas.
And if you'd like to do something constructive with your time I'd suggest you learn how to be gracious in victory, should that happen. You will do so much better if you can find a way to accept us in and make us feel welcome and find the common ground that we can choose to fight on together.
For I'll admit, we are a fierce army. We will fight hard, and we will fight for principle, knowing that's the way you win, even when the odd ms seem to be not in your favor.
We would be much better allies than opponents, and I mean this for the next months before the election and for the years after that as well.
We're not going away or disappearing no matter what you do.

(57,936 posts)I can't entirely vouch for my numbers, but as far as I can tell, Hillary has won 23 states and Bernie has won 21. I think that Hillary won 5 if those states by less than 5 points, but Bernie has won only 3 by less than 5 points, so in the states Bernie has won, he has won more often by solid margins while more of Hillary's wins were close calls. It isn't a huge difference, but it is a difference that should concern Hillary considering that a lot of Bernie supporters really don't like her.
Without Bernie's voters, Hillary will have a tough time in November. Let's see what she can do for Bernie's voters. Because I think Bernie is going to do well in California. The college students are incredibly enthusiastic about Bernie. Of course, Hillary can get a lot of votes from the nursing home crowd.
We shall see what happened.
