2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOne thing about tonight is clear....
Clinton cannot win without the Independents. She has alienated them so much in the last few weeks.
Bernie can and will win with the Independents.

(1,473 posts)I'm an Independent and I feel alienated By Sanders and his gang of supporters.
Contrary to popular Sanders camp's beliefs, all Independents are not voting for Bernie Sanders.

(1,473 posts)where's the proof all independents are voting for Hillary?
Yep I'm an Independent who's not really concerned if you believe me or if you think I'm working for Brock.
I find it hilarious that Bernie's supporters are all such great sleuths.
Can't wait to find out who I am tomorrow.
Enjoy being Berned in this evening's primaries !

(16,974 posts)I just pointed out the coincidence of all of the newly minted Hillary supporters all dumped here the same time Brock started paying. The Sock in your username just was ...........

I'm sure it's purely coincidental, but it's interesting nonetheless.

(3,830 posts)Bernie has been eliminated from the race via delegates.
His winning the nomination is now a statistical impossibility.
Hillary hasn't been eliminated from being president yet.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)They do not go up. It happened in 2008 and it's happening now. The more exposure she gets, the more people dislike her. Trump will beat Hillary because, even though a lot of people don't like him at all, they will dislike Hillary more. That's The Math that Hillary supporters/acolytes are incapable of dealing with - or paid not to.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)Late October and the picture will be more clear.
She wins the nomination.
That's just math and delegates.
Anything past that has no hard data
and so is speculation.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)But you've got a brain, use it! Hillary's numbers go down. We've seen it and are seeing it now. Why? Because of exactly the stuff that's happening. NV was a mess and it looked like thuggery. You can argue about why it happened until the cows come home and turn up at Burger King, but that's how people see it. The evidence is in front of your face.
Yeah, yeah, Sanders is a socialist. Hillary has plenty of stuff to hit her on and they'll call her a socialist too. Again, arguing with people here about all the negatives and why they aren't fair and why they're sexist won't make a fuck of difference. People will still see the problems whether you agree with them or not.
The hard data is in her poll numbers. Read and understand them.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)No thanks.
I'll wait for the primaries to end
and then around October I'll make a prediction.
Guessing and wishing is the domain of the Bernie faithful.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)... or THE DONALD! And all the same crap will come out. "You have to support the war monger, wall-street owned person cuz the supreme court! " And there will be much gnashing of teeth, but under no circumstances will there ever be a shred of reflection to see how we got there.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)Everybody has to vote how they see fit.
Trump doesn't scare me.
Bernie isn't going to be the nominee.
Probably better if he starts getting used to that.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)Better get used to that.
griffi94
(3,830 posts)But if you thought Bernie had a real chance then your judgement is suspect at best.
Whether or not Hillary wins in November remains to be seen.
Bernie losing is a mathematical fact now.
Wishful thinking won't change anything.
If Hillary loses then she loses.
It'll never be Bernie.

(20,453 posts)These are people who should understand a thing or two, in spite of their spite for Bernie Sanders.
Another thing about Independents. Try to tally how many of the almost majority (I believe they are at least 46% of the total electorate) USED to be Democrats.
As I said earlier tonight... "What is the logic behind the change in party for MANY Democrats residing in the "closed primary states" over the last 15 to 20 years? I can tell you that these voters (CLOSE TO HALF OF THE ELECTORATE) have moved away from the Democratic party. And, it doesn't just happen by accident. Unless you are one of those true believers who think that the Democrats previously elected kept on giving their electorate love, you will see that their movement OUT of our party happened with reason. Coupled with gerrymandering to help the Republicans, they left because they saw (and still see) that the party left us. They now have lessened the chance of inclusion unless the state allows them to. They STILL hold the long-forgotten Democratic party's values. THEY HAVE NO PLACE, unless they change parties just to have a primary vote. Depending on where they are, they can. And, when they do, they do it because they see a candidate WHO NEVER FORGOT THOSE VALUES."
