Related: About this forumUnify the party...
that is what many people are calling for. Yet despite calls to unify, they are actively going out of their way to make Bernie Sanders supporters look like terrible people. They have called us sexist. They have called us racist. They have called us pie eyed. They have said we fell for a stupid policy platform that can never be implemented (Really? They also say in the same breath Hillary and Bernies platforms are very similar!). They are now calling us violent and saying we are like Trump supporters. They are blaming the actions of a few on the entire campaign and its supporters. They say we should just drop out and fall in line. They say we are not "real" democrats. Well guess what, half of Kentucky voted for Bernie Sanders and it was a closed primary. That means democrats were only able to vote and HALF of them choose Sanders. Those are "real" democrats. So are all the other democrats who have voted for him. You keep implying it is YOUR party and that only you have a say in how we conduct conventions and elect boards and committees in our states. Well guess what, I've been a life long democrat. I've voted democrat up and down the ticket since I turned 18. And now the party is pushing me out. Fine. You don't want me in the party? I will gladly leave after the convention.

(3,649 posts)I feel the same way. The way many are going about lambasting Bernie and his supporters then calling for the party to "unify" is downright abusive.

Feed me shit and tell me it's good.
Tell me the Conservative Neocon candidate is the true Democrat and that I and mine are not.
Yeah, that oughtta work.

(456 posts)The voters in the democratic primary have voted and thus far Hillary Clinton has 3+ million more votes than Bernie Sanders. Sorry your candidate of choice is losing, but that's a democracy.

(1,220 posts)mostly coming from the Sanders side. Then, when Hillary started her win streak on Super Tuesday, the her supporters gained confidence and unfortunately started fighting back. Now it is total chaos, with both sides behaving badly. I doubt too many on DU will be able to let go of their feelings before November.
Luckily this is a small minority of Democratic voters, and I trust that those in the real world will be able to unite. I have many friends who support Sanders, but are totally willing to vote for Hillary. In fact, I can't think of a single one (including those who are always posting pro-Sanders stuff on Facebook!) who won't vote for the Democratic nominee. I also have republican friends who are not so much voting for Hillary, but voting against Trump. Once you get out of the closed in world of the internet, people are far more reasonable.
