My senator Jeff Merkely.. Bernie's only endorsement

I am a Hillary supporter, when Merkely endorsed Bernie, I was not happy but I recognized that was his decision and I knew and said Oregon could not have a better senator. I like him. Anyway, He recently said if Bernie was not closing the gap by the time all votes are counted he should support and endorse Hillary. He also called for unity. Well... Guess what. He is being Trashed and harassed on his facebook page for those comments. Why???? Is it not enough that he endorsed and spoke good about Bernie? Can anyone tell me why Bernie supporters do this?

Many people who support Bernie understand that President Hillary Clinton will be as dangerous for the future of the country and the world as any choice available. They're fighting for the survival of the planet.

Most of Hillary's supporters are looking through a completely different lens.

I did find these:

Natalie Miller: Please leave and take Bernie and his criminal wife with you he's not a Democrat and if he destroys our convention then you're finished also We don't want his socialist agenda we won't allow him to ruin our party. Take his thug supporters and go away.

Carolyn Gray: He's not a socialist - maybe you could consult a dictionary?

Natalie Miller: Read Michelle Goldberg article on what the Republicans will use against Bernie Sanders he was a communist .a hard core Communist. He belonged to Communist a of America until 2012'

Linda Janowski: Just saw you on CNN and you sir are an ASSHOLE ! When are you going to learn the party you represent are nothing but GIVE ME GIVE ME scum bags.. The violence is created by your low life party.. Shame on you !

ETA: This is the only negative comment I can find my a Bernie supporter. Exaggerate much?

Thomas Gross: Yeah right Merkley. Oregon ranks as 49'th for best states to make a living. Only Hawaii is worse. Progressive policies have ruined your state.

Ismet-Matthew Takim: THIS IS THE REAL PICTURE ULTIMATE GOAL, when Trump said" lets stop Muslims", all the Zionist Jews jumped in, they actually want TRUMP not even HILLARY , they want Hillary to be nominated in Democratic party , knowing her record, she will loose against TRUMP. they PUMP her first ,by totally discarding and ignoring Bernie,(whom has clean records, Trump will loose against 100%)BY alienating BERNIE angers BERNIE SUPPORTERS ,48% says will not VOTE for HILLARY meaning most votes will go to TRUMP. this way every which way , they making sure TRUMP is elected as next PRESIDENT , THIS is their real Goal, and we are all been PLAYED. Brilliant.DON'T YOU AGREE?

You see how it might be a problem to extrapolate this to all supporters of Bernie? By these snippets and your logic we can conclude that the supporters of all the remaining candidates are all horrible people.

The problem with many here at DU is that you don't adhere to the common sense rule that pointing out the bad behavior of SOME doesn't mean ALL. Pointing out the good behavior of SOME doesn't mean ALL.

know Jeff and the rest don't really matter. Facebook, Twitter, these are not good sources for knowing the world or seeing what matters.

If you see a person from 'tribe X' being rude, is it fair to ask 'why are people from tribe X rude'? This is your basic question and it has dubious roots. Consider other groups with noxious individuals. Is it fair to hold out the behavior of one or a few and question the larger group about that? Isn't that what Trump does to Muslims and to Mexicans?

Dubious mindset, something I'd consider and consider well.

All i could find were posts on otehr matters, and some people agreeing or disagreeing with him on the subject of the posts. No great Swarm of Bernie Supporters attacking him enmasse.

to the point that they think the super delegates should throw out the primary results and vote in a candidate who did not get the majority of pledged delegates and popular votes. They believe that Hillary Clinton is so bad that the voters' collective will should be ignored because they know better than the voters.

So, they get angry when they don't get their way, and post ugly and sometimes vile things to super delegates who do do as they wish. It's a useless exercise, of course, and only hardens the resolve of those super delegates who currently support Clinton. Now, as they did in 2008, many super delegates will change their vote if their preferred candidate doesn't get the majority of pledged delegates, who are allocated according to the vote in their states. They did that for President Obama in 2008, validating the will of the voters. They would do the same in 2016 if Bernie Sanders had the majority of pledged delegates.

But Sanders will not have that majority. When the convention opens, Hillary Clinton will have the majority of both pledged delegates and the popular vote from states that hold primary elections and some caucus states. Other caucus states don't record popular vote, but still allocate delegates according to the votes at the caucuses, so it's the same thing.

Extremely zealous Sanders supporters will no doubt insist that they know best, though, so there will be demonstrations and protests outside of the Democratic Convention. Those will not affect what happens on the convention floor, however, where the will of the voters in all 50 states and other jurisdictions will be the deciding factor. Democracy will prevail on the convention floor.
