2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie people think it's "his turn".
They think the Democratic party has been taken over by "corporatists".
Their recent history of Democratic presidential nominees looks like this:
Clinton: corporatist
Gore: corporatist
Kerry: corporatist
Obama: corporatist
Too many "corporatists". Time for an "anti-corporatist". It's Bernie's turn.
Never mind that these so-called "corporatists" were each and every time chosen by the Democratic voters. Doesn't matter any more than it does that Hillary has millions more votes than Bernie. Who cares who the voters chose? It's Bernie's turn.

(10,495 posts)Yes the MSM, the Establishment, and TPTB have pre-chosen who we were able to vote for. Also, TPTB were more subtle then with their control and greed. Now they are not and many of us have figured it out. Some still believe the propaganda, but have no idea how much money rides on TPTB maintaining control over our politicians/government. This is what happens when you allow legalized bribery of our politicians!

We have and need to strengthen
the Pro-Public, a Pro-Commons
movement that Bernie has kick-started.
Privatization is that the Establishment seeks.

(36,649 posts)Al Gore would've just as surely crashed the economy & lied to start an unnecessary war as Bush Jr did.
And John McCain would have of course taken the first steps toward real health care reform & LBGTQ rights as Obama has.
No difference at all

(375 posts)So what do we do about it? Vote for someone who would raise the federal minimum wage and increase taxes on the rich, like Bernie would, or just be indifferent to Trumpo the huckster winning?
The choice to make with your vote belongs to you, not me, not Hillary, not with the DNC, not with Debbie Wasserman Schulz. They can all be criticized. But they cannot be criticized for what you do.

(16,104 posts)the people's turn.
The people's turn to have someone working for them rather than corporate interests.
The people's turn to have someone who even thinks of our interests before turning their backs on us because it isn't an election year.
Corporations have had their years, how about we work for human people for once. Oh wait..DLC....not gonna happen, it's all about helping banks and Wall Street, no time for those nearer the bottom of the scale.

Why are Hillary supporters so detached from the millions of Americans who are barely surviving? It's nauseating. Yes, jobs in China. What about the folks here at home? Oh, right! Bill Clinton to the rescue... jobs, jobs, jobs!

(37,428 posts)Our candidates are typically running only because they have successfully begged for the backing of big money. Corporation are the easiest source, but such support comes at a price, and candidates who win it typically owe favors to the biggest donors. We call such candidates "corporatists" because their agendas come to echo those of the corporate powers that control the money.
You're welcome.
