2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf more Democrats were like Dick Durbin, there would be less of this divisiveness
Just saw him on Morning Joe discussing the primary and Bernie and Clinton.
I've always liked Durbin. He's a Moderate Liberal in a good sense. He's a traditional politician and plays the DC game to an extent, but he is a Liberal with the right instincts, and is not one of those yuppie "main chancers" or corporate apologists.
He mentioned that Sanders had called him to discuss the situation. Durbin made Sanders position clear in a very reasonable way.
Durbin also made the case for unity in one of the best way's I've heard -- by honestly acknowledging the issues Sanders has raised without browbeating or being dismissive or condescending, and agreeing with the problem he is pointing out.

(36,392 posts)Exactly what a good candidate, statesman, and democrat would do. I have completely lost respect for people like Krugman and DWS and most of the Clinton camp who have slandered and lied about him just because he wants to try get working people back some of what's been taken from them over the last thirty years. Those who have attacked Bernie are black-hearted losers with whom I won't associate.
