Krugman --Questions of Character (Sanders)

OUCH---but true.

Questions of Character

Like a lot of people, I was shocked by the statement Bernie Sanders put out about Nevada. No hint of apology for his supporters’ behavior, lots of accusations about a “rigged” process
when the issue in Nevada was whether Clinton should get more delegates in a state where she won the vote. .................

But maybe we shouldn’t have been shocked. It has been obvious for quite a while that Sanders — not just his supporters, not even just his surrogates, but the candidate himself — has a problem both in facing reality and in admitting mistakes.
........................

Here’s what I wrote more than a month ago:

Is Mr. Sanders positioning himself to join the “Bernie or bust” crowd, walking away if he can’t pull off an extraordinary upset,.....................

The Sanders campaign has brought out a lot of idealism and energy that the progressive movement needs. It has also, however, brought out a streak of petulant self-righteousness among some supporters. Has it brought out that streak in the candidate, too?[/blockquote]

I’m afraid that we now know the answer. And I feel sorry for all the genuinely idealistic, well-meaning people who got caught up in this terrible mess.

saying, in perfect seriousness, that Krugman was only being such a big ole meanie to Obama because Obama was handsome and thus undoubtedly got lots 'o luvin' in college, while a geek like Krugman would have had no luck with the college girls.

Yes, that's what passes for serious political discussion among a certain faction here.

And I'm a Bernie supporter.

But I do think there is an element of Angry Nerd in Krugman.

He gets himself a platform and gets carried away with himself and decided to turn in his forte of economic analysis with political macho posturing while sucking up to the real cool kids, the Clintons.

because I can remember when George W. had an approval rating of about 90% and Paul K. was pretty much the only national media person willing to criticize him.

Likewise, I respect Barbara Boxer for being one of the few to oppose the Iraq War--something a certain junior senator from New York would have done well to emulate, even though I think her recent antics are disgraceful.

Use his office to brownnose Corporate America and Wall St. then retire from "public service" and start making $200,00 for speeches to Goldman Sachs, or joined a lobbying firm or become a "corporate consultant"

A politician has ideals and doesn't kiss up to corporate donors.

How to insult such a person? Call him self-righteous.

This hack's credibility was shot to shit long ago. This gullible dumbnut has fallen for the bullshit media-driven narrative that Sanders supporters engaged in violence.

The same bullshit he pulled with "Obama boys" in 2008. He's a sycophantic hack looking for a payday.
