Now Sanders stands accused by senior members of Democratic Party leadership, with support from the Democratic-leaning commentariat, of somehow enabling or encouraging a coordinated campaign of harrassment and intimidation. Chastened by perceived procedural wrongdoing at the Nevada convention, Sanders delegates registered their discontent by doing things such as booing, jeering and shouting pretty standard fare in terms of public political displays.
Somehow this run-of-the-mill discord morphed into wanton violence, as Harry Reid, the Senate minority leader and kingpin of Nevada politics, later described it. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former Hillary surrogate who now runs the Democratic National Committee, echoed these allegations and ridiculed Sanders for refusing to condemn his own supporters.
Despite several days worth of news cycles premised on the occurrence of violence, no evidence for this has yet been produced. No one has come forward to claim that physical harm was inflicted upon them by rabid Sanders backers, nor has law enforcement brought charges, as would be expected if such mayhem had truly transpired. NPRs ombudsman, Elizabeth Jensen, determined earlier reports of violence from the outlet to be misleading.
By framing routine political dissension in terms of harassment and safety, Democratic officials and allied pundits are now importing the rhetoric of therapeutic psychology currently in vogue within academic liberalism into the presidential campaign arena. Its one thing when safe space nomenclature is deployed on behalf of the marginalized and outcast.
But when its used to insulate a powerful U.S. senator from criticism, something has gone awry.
Yep.

(30,058 posts)Attempt by the dissenters to silence the majority. Now does it seem reasonable the minority rules the majority and the oligarchy Sanders so often complains is trying to force their will on the majority, won't happen, the majority will continue to rule.

(30,058 posts)To overturn a rule there needed to be a 2/3 % of the vote. One hundred angry people does not make the rules. BTW, your posts have lacked truthful information about the rules.

(11,366 posts)I somehow doubt that.
That said: You're wrong. The anger was over the DNC establishment's attempt to change the rules and not recognizing Sanders' supporters were were both objecting and attempting to follow these stupid new rules to present platform changes.

(38,613 posts)Correct The Record will invest more than $1 million into Barrier Breakers 2016 activities, including the more than tripling of its digital operation to engage in online messaging both for Secretary Clinton and to push back against attackers on social media platforms like Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and Instagram. Barrier Breakers 2016 is a project of Correct The Record and the brainchild of David Brock, and the task force will be overseen by President of Correct The Record Brad Woodhouse and Digital Director Benjamin Fischbein. The task force staffs backgrounds are as diverse as the community they will be engaging with and include former reporters, bloggers, public affairs specialists, designers, Ready for Hillary alumni, and Hillary super fans who have led groups similar to those with which the task force will organize.
The task force currently combats online political harassment, having already addressed more than 5,000 individuals who have personally attacked Secretary Clinton on Twitter. The task force will provide a presence and space online where Clinton supporters can organize and engage with one another and are able to obtain graphics, videos, gifs, and messaging to use in their own social spaces. Additionally, the Barrier Breakers 2016 task force hopes to embrace the creativity of Hillary Clintons supporters by sharing their efforts and content with other groups.
