I've got a full time job, two kids, and a small business. You could not pay me $200 to show up to a caucus on a saturday and waste hours of my life. Caucuses disenfranchise younger families.

There we come face to face with area leaders and get to know what is happening inside of the party. Having lived in states with primaries there is none of that taking place in those states. The establishment in those states is pretty much able to control the party without one argument.

Caucuses are horrid. They are public. Those supporting lesser candidates or who are undecided sit in the center of the room, and are then allowed to be harassed by members of both sides representing the major candidates like it is a used car tent sale.

Primaries should be run by the parties. All ballots should mailed to registered party members. Members can vote in the privacy of their homes. Ballots would be returned by mail. A third party accounting firm would oversee/audit the counting.

Not until they have safeguards for election fraud. Stealing vote counts is too easy with the current system.

The state pays for primaries. The party pays for caucuses.

Red state don't want to spend the money.
