(39,909 posts)...the Media and the DNC (Wasserman-Schultz) have tilted the field against Bernie.
Just One.
The GOOD NEWS for Bernie supporters and The Movement is that despite everything The Media, The DNC, and the Conservative Party Bosses could do,
Bernie and his supporters have defied all the odds and "Punditry Wisdom", and have held the chosen one to a Dead Heat this election.
Keep the faith.

(58,785 posts)from destroying everything we as Democrats, liberals, and progressives believe in. I didn't care in the least about a chair that may have been thrown in that melee, just the same as I couldn't care less if Bernie was in one particular photo.
What we know about those that matters:
1. The Sanders NV contingent attempted--and failed--to disrupt the democratic process.
2. They did so on instructions from Sanders' own campaign.
3. Sanders was involved in and supported the civil rights movement.
Btw, at the moment I'm listening to a political phone message telling me I have to vote for Paul Broun, famous for evolution and climate change "lies straight from the pits of Hell," because his opponent supports "establishment" positions. Actually his Republican opponent supports whatever ALEC and the Kochtopus wants, but I thought I'd let any ex- Bernie supporters who might be interested that Paul Broun is their "anti-establishment" man here in our district. Of course, so are the Kochs and his Republican opponent.

(27,787 posts)It appears that no one actually threw a chair. Some one almost did. And that got reported as "some one did throw a chair".
But the reality is at that a segment of Bernie supporters became "threatening".
That's just a fact.
And the guy holding the chair over his head is proof of that.
All over 2 delegates.

Dustlawyer
(10,539 posts)Wow!
Why was he so angry, that is the real question. It's because of the injustice being perpetrated by a rigged election. There have been so many irregular (all in Hillary's favor) and illegal voting shenanigans in this Primary. The DNC has had their fingers on the scales. The MSM has done their best to keep Bernie down. TPTB have poured millions to drown his message. Establishment politicians all lined up behind Hillary because that's was the quid pro quo to get her big Donor's money in their campaign coffers. It all adds up to why he is not way ahead of a very weak candidate.
Bernie scares the hell out of the ruling class that has controlled EVERYTHING since Reagan. He has had to fight all of the most powerful corporations and Plutocrats in the world while they have given Hillary a huge personal fortune and a ginormous war chest.
Trump was given all of that air time to become the big bogeyman to scare the likes of us into voting for Hillary anyway. The problem with that tactic is that he may beat her. Watch for MSM backing off of Trump fawning after the conventions.

(20,176 posts)Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable and that is increasingly acknowledged by courts.
For example, Zach Zaragosa claims he saw chairs thrown...it can be demonstrably proven that he is incorrect. In all likelihood, the entirety of his testimony would stricken and inadmissible in a court of law.
So, to answer the imputation of your question. No. His account would not hold up in court.
To answer the question you asked. Also no. They usually do not hold up in court.
Jim Lane
(11,175 posts)It's not at all uncommon for witnesses to lie under oath, especially, of course, witnesses who have an interest and hence a reason to lie. That doesn't get the testimony excluded. Where there's contradictory evidence, the jury (or the judge in a bench trial) decides where the preponderance of the evidence is.
If the chair-throwing myth were ever the subject of a trial, this witness would be subjected to cross-examination that would be devastating. In addition, of course, all the contrary evidence could be introduced. I'm confident that the decision by any unbiased fact-finder would come out the same way as the Snopes piece.
What would be inadmissible would be Ralston's testimony. His statement is pure hearsay and is not within any hearsay exception that I can think of.

The suit, brought by a teachers union allied with the Clinton campaign, argued that it would constitute an unfair advantage to Obama by making it easier for hotel workers to take time off from work to attend the caucus.
The running row was seen as a sign of the intensity of the campaign in Nevada."

My God, the corruption at that convention was going to elicit an emotional and angry response. Righteously and understandably so.
Of course, there is NO fucking evidence that any violence happened, and it is clear that zero chair throwage occurred either.
So crazy that the focus has been on the non existing violence and not the blatant corruption. That is the objective of the Establishment quite clearly.

(60 posts)Chris Matthews, Maddow and DWS repeated it over and over again. I only watch Chris Hayes and Lawrence O'Donnell. How about joining me in boycotting Matthews, Maddow and All Due Respect. (30,058 posts)Picking it up. Just picking up the chair over his head is an act of aggression, unaccepted. The phone calls is also an act of aggression, calling the chairs place of employment is a sign of aggression. The Hill camp didn't care. Instead they made up stories that "CHAIRS were THROWN."
But Hill camp LIED. One shocked, cheated delegate held up his chair and then lowered it.

(14,591 posts)Sure, that must be it: the video that proves no chairs were thrown MUST BE WRONG.
And then there's this: "In spite of the fact that the whole thing was filmed live from multiple angles, no one has any images or video of even a single chair, let alone chairs plural, being thrown."
I always wondered about that. In this day and age of smart phones -- not to mention official video recordings and/or security footage -- it's a wonder that the chair-throwing tale could still go halfway around the world before the truth even got its shoes on.
But then, haters gonna believe what they want to believe.
