(50,986 posts)the retrieval, Luminous Animal, since (given its content) it's a post that could be by Donald Trump himself.
The references in that passage are kind of low-down, kind of mean-spirited, kind of brutish and brainless and bigoted and bullying all at once. Ugly stuff.

(54,770 posts)ranted about "N________s and J__s." To this day, I don't like saying the word "Jew" because of that hatred from 1950/60s (I have to use several words so I can use Jewish, rather than the shorter version because of those bigots from 50 years ago). For the jerks who might ask, I don't like the N word either because of hatred white wingers mean by it.
Sometimes I feel very sad here. Peace and swent dreams everyone.

(1,820 posts)There are still many here that are hoping for change and peace. I sometimes have to go for a few days because it is terrifying to me that the "democratic tent" is now embracing those so full of hate.

(4,624 posts)Perhaps it may one day share the history of other words such as "yankee" (originally a British term of derision for colonists). I cannot claim to be a Jew, but I do try to be a fellow traveler. And the rest doesn't sound so bad when you are 68. Yeah, crusty and old, right! A tough old bird! And don't you forget it! Maybe you should think about how we got to be that way! Maybe we have seen and heard and done enough to have something to say that is worth hearing.

seriously he doesn't come close to President Obama on any level. The Bernie visual alone is a turnoff.

If the same things were said about other minority groups none of those persons would be here. That's a fact.

(23,272 posts)Alerts are useless. Its so accepted here now to attack Bernie with anti-semitic shit nobody even notices it anymore.
Behind the Aegis
(56,108 posts)...the anti-Semitism has been a feature here for a long time. The difference now is some people have some "skin" in the game, sort of, by way of their candidate, Sanders. The most disturbing anti-Semitism I have seen in regards to Sanders is the red-bating. It seems some, including, sadly, a few Jews, are engaging in the age old "Jews aren't loyal to the US". Then, to add insult to injury, he is getting blamed for not being "loyal to Israel" despite his record on Israel, and therefore is a 'bad Jew' or a "self-loathing Jew." But, if I had to be one hundred percent honest about what really disturbs me, it is seeing the number of people "concerned" about anti-Semitism, who have engaged in it many times in the past; it is just the target is different. Many of those people, as well as some hurling anti-Semitic tropes at Sanders do so love telling Jews what is and isn't anti-Semitism, and what being a "real" Jew is all about. Other minorities can rightly and usually with some support, complain about "splainin'" when it comes from a majority person, but if a Jew points this out, well, then we are "playing the Jew card (a double insult)" or "the Holocaust card."
If Sanders gets the nomination, we will see anti-Semitism grow by leaps and bounds, much like we did with the nomination of Obama in regards to racism. If, however, he doesn't get the nomination, much of the anti-Semitism will still fester here, but the number of people willing to call it out will drop significantly, as it will "no longer be their problem".
riderinthestorm
(23,272 posts)It's been pretty discouraging honestly. This primary has permanently damaged my view of more than a few posters here.
Behind the Aegis
(56,108 posts)You and me both. Sadly, it also has caused some good people to leave (BMUS) who were actually concerned about anti-Semitism and weren't speaking out against it because it was "en vogue" or "quid pro quo". Of course, some of the hardcore haters have also left, so...dat's kewl! Though I will say it is almost comical watching some the traditional anti-Semites having to argue against the same things said to Jews here in the past, but it is now being directed at them. It tickles me in a special place.

(11,175 posts)The hidden post used the slur in the context of "Sander's {sic}" elect ability {sic}". I assume the poster would say, "I'm not a bigot! I'm just pointing out problems Sanders would have in getting votes." The Clinton people have been even bigger on saying socialist socialist socialist and then denying that they're red-baiting, just talking about how it affects November prospects.
The gaping hole in the argument is that they never apply the same standard to themselves. The most obvious example is the email issue. I don't know how much merit there is to the criticisms of Clinton, but I do think it's reasonable to consider how it will affect November prospects, merit or no. The Clinton supporters, however, generally don't see it that way. In their eyes, anyone who comments on the emails is a Hillary hater or even a Trump humper.
My personal guess is that there are indeed some people who would vote against Sanders because they're anti-Semites. I think it's small, though. Most of the anti-Semites in America are already Republican voters, so that Sanders doesn't lose many votes by virtue of his religion. The number of people who'll vote against Clinton because of the email controversy (even without an indictment) is probably much higher.
