..might they be willing to scrub you in real Life?

(2,178 posts)The Nazis used to select the KAPOS from the prisoners by testing them to see if they would compromise their beliefs. By the end of the War, few actual SS manned the camps. Most of the exterminations were done and organized by the KAPOS, while the SS were sent to the Front.

This sounds like paranoia run amok.

(2,178 posts)In 1972, when I was in College, one of my co-workers told me a story about his Psychiatrist Professor who had been an inmate in the Camps. The Nazis found him useful as an Orderly. This gave him access to areas of the Camps that most people didn't have. Being an astute observer, he noticed that the Nazis were using well-known psychological manipulation to control the Inmates. He was able to write a journal on toilet tissue, so after the War, he could refresh his memory.
One incident he recounted stands-out in my mind to this Day:
It was Winter and a group of new arrivals that had survived the selection process were made to sit in a courtyard without any protection from the cold. After a couple of Hours, a guard tossed an SS Greatcoat onto the ground. Nothing happened at first, but eventually someone got up and put on the coat. He was then sent to KAPO training.
What is frightening about this, is that the person who put on the coat took-on the persona depicted by the coat and became as sadistic as any of the other guards.
We see this effect every Day as we observe people put on a Uniform and go to work. It can be either good or bad, depending on the situation.

(24,979 posts)Start with this self-evident bit of logic:
If someone is willing to scrub you from the voter rolls...
then sure as hell they'd be willing to commit whatever other election fraud they could get away with!
