(960 posts)street? taking money from Big Pharma so they can jack up prices that will ultimately make it impossible for people to afford the medication they need. How about denying single payer, because it is so contentious to get done? A lot of shameful things.

(960 posts)He understood that they would try to move heaven and earth to block obamacare because they would see their profits plummet. So Obama compromised on the system that we have now.
Since big pharma and the healthcare industry have such a large and powerful lobby (aka, they bribe the ... out of our politicians) we will never see a single payer healthcare system because it would become too powerful for big pharma and the healthcare industry to fight against. Hillary already told us this, not because it is "contentious", but because like most politicians she answers to them and not to us.

(12,504 posts)you will also include the entire body of evidence and quotes that person ever made in their entire life. Hillary has been in the public eye for 25 years....you'll have a lot of homework to do.
This of course is assuming your were earnest in your silly assumption that the any quote will be classified as parsed unless it is part of an essay (or a book) of every quote ever made. I assume you were not being honest in that silly assumption of how parsing works.
HumanityExperiment
(1,442 posts)'Hillary has been in the public eye for 25 years'
Ever shifting left, or in her terminology 'evolving', on issues throughout those years and beyond
I've done my homework, hence my not supporting her in primary
Trust is something earned and HRC lacks trust, and I'm not the only that feel same... check the polls on that to verify
If you support and promote cherry picked bits to craft a narrative I'll be sure to call it out, as I would expect any intellectually honest individual to do

(18,402 posts)It gets tossed around a lot, but I never had a clue as to what it means with respect to a person. (A jewel or a document can be authentic, but how is a person "authentic" ?
I'm beginning to think it just means "male." Or rather, males who say anything that comes off the top of their heads. Or angry males. Firebrands. I'm beginning to think being female pretty much automatically excludes a person from being considered among the class to which people attach the vague term "authentic." It's a convenient way to deny personhood to women candidates, it would seem. Women are "inauthentic" because it is not their authentic role to pursue leadership positions. Real fundamentalist crap.
People say Clinton isn't "authentic." But when I look at old speeches or old footage, going back to her college days, I see pretty much the same person: not a firebrand, but just smart, wonkish, hard-working person. That's who she is and who she's always been. Isn't that "authentic"? It certainly can't mean changing or evolving on positions, because take, say, Elizabeth Warren, who subscribed to Republican positions and voted for Republicans for the first 46 years of her life. Yet no one says, now that she's a Democrat, that she's inauthentic (well, they did say she wasn't an authentic Indian, so I guess that even is a moniker that got thrown at her in an attempt to disqualify her from office).
I don't buy this "authenticity" ploy as a measure of anything. I know some authentic assholes. Is that something to crow about?

So there will be things that, you know, the retirement age has to be changed, maybe some of the benefits have to be affected, maybe some of the inflation adjustments have to be revised.
