2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThere are some of us who do not like Hillary's policies, but she's a little better than Trump.
I'm voting for her in the general election, but I won't stop criticizing her when she's wrong. If you support her and remain silent when she's wrong you are complicit.
Bad ideas are bad no matter if he or she has D next to their name.

(15,805 posts)The reality is that the US is frequently placed between a rock and a hard place where there is no perfect decision, only a Sophie's Choice decision between that might be bad or even worse. All of the countries you point to involve extremely complex issues from national security to global economics that impact many other governments -- both friend and foe -- and all of it affects our strategic interests.
We only get a glimpse of the superficial events, not the depth or extent of the interplay between all the stakeholders involved. It is irresponsible to manufacture a one-dimensional critique based on incomplete knowledge.

(47,803 posts)Invading Iraq was totally needless and totally destructive to our interests.
Realizing that was not rocket science.

(38,613 posts)Though it's true that some people prefer to let others tell them what their opinions are.
Obama told us to hold his feet to the fire and stay on his ass if we don't like what he's doing. I agreed with that.
Once someone is considered to be immune from criticism, anything can happen, and it won't be good.

She is light years better than T Rump.
Iraq, Libya, Syria, Palestine, Honduras, etc. Trade, and a shitload of other neoliberal macroeconomics.
Simpleton gibberish. Got any more one word reasons?

(4,311 posts)That's all anyone can ask. Hell, that's about the enthusiasm with which I voted for President Obama in 2008. But I did vote for him, and actually he grew on me hugely over the course of his presidency and I like him a lot now. It's possible Hillary may surprise you - she tends to poll better the longer she's in office.

(17,064 posts)Kerry is still cleaning up the mess she left at State, not to mention the FBI criminal investigation, and the legacy she left of being the only Obama Admin official caught up in a scandal. Just imagine the damage she can do as President? Just as bad as Trump...probably more corrupt and criminal than him though.

(10,007 posts)point out how horrific the Republicans are and dare us to allow them to win office, then after we vote for the Democrat they continue implementing heinous policy while shrugging their shoulders and saying "it could have been worse."

(17,064 posts)...then God help us.
Except we do have another option. Nominate a candidate running for President who ISNT under a current FBI criminal investigation, who ISNT corrupt, who ISNT a serial liar, who ISNT a war-mongering neoconservative. Know of any such candidate?

(13,218 posts)Shall we count the number of convictions? --- I have zero, how many did you get? You know our system of justice demands a high standard of evidence (you may need to look that word up). Bernie hasn't been vetted, thus all non-attributes may be big ol' fat attributes, along with many other non-desirables ones. But as he is now irrelevant there is no need to discuss him.
