Whaa? Congressional Demorats consider dumping Debbie Wasserman Schultz

Dems discuss dropping Wasserman Schultz
By Alexander Bolton * 05/24/16 * The Hill

Democrats on Capitol Hill are discussing whether Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz should step down as Democratic National Committee (DNC) chairwoman before the party’s national convention in July.

Democrats backing likely presidential nominee Hillary Clinton worry Wasserman Schultz has become too divisive a figure to unify the party in 2016, which they say is crucial to defeating presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump in November.

Wasserman Schultz has had an increasingly acrimonious relationship with the party’s other presidential candidate, Bernie Sanders, and his supporters, who argue she has tilted the scales in Clinton’s favor.
“There have been a lot of meetings over the past 48 hours about what color plate do we deliver Debbie Wasserman Schultz’s head on,” said one pro-Clinton Democratic senator.

The lawmaker said senators huddled on the chamber floor last week to talk about Wasserman Schultz’s future and estimated that about a dozen have weighed in during private conversations.

“I don’t see how she can continue to the election. How can she open the convention? Sanders supporters would go nuts,” said the lawmaker, who requested anonymity because of the sensitive nature of the discussions.

Gosh I hope they follow through with this. It seems that people are starting to wake up and smell the coffee. DWS is a woman who seems really angry and has been destroying the Democratic Party for a very long time.

If this has "debunked", surely you have a link to back up that claim.

She has been one of the principle leders who destroyed the Democratic by going "Third Way or the Highway" - anyone acting in that way should lose positions of influence. Primary the lot of them!

If deemed necessary, Debbie will step down and be well-rewarded by her owners, and said owners will continue to run the show through her replacement.

God are they stupid.

Debbie will just get offered a huge reward if she steps aside.

What is needed is both a balance between the mainstream/neoliberal and the progressive wing of the Democratic Party throughout the organization, and plenty of folk in the structure who are fairminded towards both. DWS has packed the Convention with Hillary supporters and allows Bernie supporters only SOME access to certain areas, like the platform committee, while the rules and everything that happens at the Convention is firmly under the unilateral control of her anti-progressive/anti-Bernie allies.

In getting DWS out, which probably won't happen till AFTER the Convention and the full damage has been done (ie she has fully "done the job&quot , but it is necessary to get her AND her appointees out BEFORE the Convention, while laying the groundwork so that the neolibs can never again rig every aspect of the campaign in favor of their faction

One detail: in allowing Hillary 6 people and Bernie 5 to the platform committee, in proportion to their numbers of votes, that seems eminently fair. But then DWS puts her thumb and both feet on the scale, by herself appointing 4 members, thus solidifying the real margin to 10-5, a completely one-sided and indefensible setup, with a cellophane fig leaf of disguise as fair

The game changer was Bernie's major endorsement of Canova and Canova's raising 250k in one weekend.

For some reason Obama likes her--I'm not sure the Clintons actually do--but I think this is DWS deciding that if she continues to be a lightning rod for progressive rage that more money is going to flow to Tim Canova.

I think she's beginning to seriously worry about losing her seat and she isn't too sure she's going to get a plum appointment from the Clintons (maybe some minor ambassadorship?).

It was just a handful of low level Sanders Supporters asking for the change. High level Establishment said no. I think it was 4 yes and 89 No..

They gave it a good try though

Unless we want the public face of our party to be someone who supports payday lenders and throwing wheelchair-bound grannies in prison for using medical marijuana, she needs to be replaced.
