2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI've been told Trump has clips from Hillarys speeches to wall st
that he intends to use in ads. His ad against Bill was just creepy, but clips are as dangerous as Romney's foo-paa tape.
I hope this isnt true, but I can see his contacts on wall street could obtain that .

If Hillary is the nominee, this is going to be something off of reality tv. People will be so turned off the 2 of them......

(458 posts)I'm very interested to see what Hillary says in one of those quarter million dollar speeches, it surely must be something noteworthy, or if nothing else, halfway interesting.
Not sure why she is so resistant to release one of them either, why not even just one? Hell, let her pick the one she wants to share. I'm just really curious...

I understand why she is secretive, but it is just smart to release them. That is why the silly e-mail issue ballooned.

(3,795 posts)Like most Bernie supporters have believed throughout this primary for very obvious reasons.
He would have released them earlier to sabotage HRC if he wanted to go against Bernie. Especially if they show HRC saying things that have been reported to have been said to Wall Street.

(1,674 posts)It would be so hard for him to find dirt on Bernie, he would just red-bait him. Hillary is a smorgasboard he could bloviate about, but picking "ENABLER" was just a bad idea, appealing only to bible thumpers and weak women. Hopefully the ad manager will screw up any Hillary clips they have too

just keep poking him with what triggers him- his hair, his hands, his failures. Maybe he will have a coronary and we will end up with Jeb Bush. He has as much baggage as Hillary, that would be a win for her.

(37,428 posts)I could well believe that there is some video out there, though, despite Clinton's mania for secrecy.

(1,674 posts)I thought if I paid that much for 3 speeches, then I would certainly tape them. They liked the first speech so much they paid for 2 more? Hillary is very good at saying what her audience wants to hear, so those tapes have to have the potential to cause trouble. They are out there and it would take one disgruntled employee, or Hillary hater to sell them to her enemy, for a price.
My source is not a paranoid fellow, but he is scared and not his humorous self.
I dont have to see tape or read transcripts to know they are damning. Of course, her followers will forgive and forget or disbelieve, but they are only 12 million out of what? 140 million registered voters in this country?
I dont think Trump has said anything about this publicly, which worrys me. When will he use it?

(37,428 posts)...or transcription by any other party.
However, this is the age of the camera phone. There were many attendees, any one of whom might have captured at least some crappy audio.
larkrake
(1,674 posts)I dont believe they follow any contract rules and Hillary would never sue Goldman. I also doubt a CEO would leak a tape. They want her in the whitehouse- it had to be a subjugate employee bribed by a Trump agent. People get fired every day from these banks.

(6,351 posts)Think about this from a probability point of view.
We know HRC was a speaker for GS. What are the odds that one or several of those speeches was officially recorded? My guess is pretty high since corporations look at things like this as "assets" to be used for other purposes within the firm at a future date. Maybe with another group of managers, maybe in another geography...whatever...just used again.
So, high odds there are videos.
What are the odds there is passage in those videos that can be carved out of context and presented as HRC's "47%" moment. My guess is pretty high, especially in the hands of such a$$hats as Roger Stone. I'm sure that in the context of her entire message, her comments will be benign but cut and paste messaging could make anyone sound bad.
So, high odds there are videos and high odds that there is a 10 second out of context sound bite that will sound pretty bad.
What are the odds that the Roger Stone's of the world will find someone willing to pay any price for a copy of that tape. My guess is that these tapes will be the hottest commodity of the general election season (unless someone has photos of Trump in a compromising position with a doberman - oh that we be so lucky...lol).
So, high odds there's a 10 second cut from these videos that ends up in a Trump or PAC ad going into November.
I don't know if this turns into October surprise but if anyone is going to dump this pile of BS out in the street and try to make a story of it...it's Trump. Unfortunately, the way it's been handled by the campaign leaves this as the only potential piece of meat in the chitstorm he's going to be peddling.
I voted to Bernie in the Ohio Primary and I fully intend to vote for HRC in the general (as well as very downticket D I can find). My biggest regret of the primary season is NOT that Bernie has run out of steam. It is that HRC didn't dump these tapes out at midnight on that debate night when the question was raised. By this time...whatever quote cutting that could be done would be old old news.
Instead, it's like trying to hold a fart in while riding the elevator up the Empire State Building. It's a long way to the top and you know you're going to lose the fight with mother nature around the 87th floor...and nobody has anywhere to hide.
In the end (i.e. the morning of 11/9/16) she wins but it's going to be so f'ing ugly along the way.

CincyDem
(6,351 posts)The issue, however, is if that whoop-ass will be consistent with his "brand". Suppose we find out that he took some zoning officials from Chicago to the Bahama's to get zoning variances for his new building on the river.
His response - "yeah. BFD, that's how ya gotta do bidness in Chicago"...and he blames the system for forcing him to bribe those guys. From an image point of view, it just reinforces the idea that we have to change the system. And besides, unless he's actually convicted...it's not going to stick with his voters. I don't think he was exaggerating when he said he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and it wouldn't hurt his image. It's sort of like "dog bites man" news.
On the other hand, if we find out that HRC used 49 cent stamps on a postcard in 1996...we're going to have a f'ing congressional investigation into her "wastefulness".
It's bullchit but when you think about "unleashing" anything on Trump consider this - whatever we discover about Trump that most "normal" people would find appalling - his supporters will look at it like finding out there were naked pictures in Playboy...what the heck did you expect, it's part of the brand.
I have confidence there are enough "normal" people in America. I just hope to god they get out and vote.

So far her team hasnt thrown any crap that sticks to Trump- I dont think his people care. They know he is a CEO, and cheer his loonacy. Will they wake up? We best pray so
