Favorite wife/spouse of a Democratic vp or vp nominee in last 50 years....this is a really hard one

This may be one of the toughest polls I've ever seen posted on DU. I had no idea how strong the field was until I started thinking about how much I loved Jill Biden.

I'm really torn. While I love Jill Biden, I felt that Elizabeth Edwards was almost a personal friend. Joan Mondale is truly a gem and Eunice Kennedy Shriver is a force of nature and deserves all the respect she can be given. Muriel Humphrey was a kickass senator for one year after Hubert's death, then remarried and apparently had a really fun 17 year marriage with a friend doing things she wanted to do. My kind of person.

Because I'm old enough to remember her service, and because she showed such a wonderfully human, real side, I'm voting for Muriel Humphrey. What about you guys?

Jill Biden(2008/2012)-an educator, an inspiration and potentially a kickass first lady
12 (60%)
Elizabeth Edwards (2004)-a fellow DUer. A lady of infinite class.
3 (15%)
Hadassah Lieberman (2000)-born in a refugee camp, her parents did time in Hitler's prison camps
0 (0%)
Tipper Gore (1992/1996) her work to protect children has sometimes displeased Democrats who oppose limitations on free speech. She's one classy lady regardless.
1 (5%)
Beryl Ann Bentson (1988) I know only that they were married 63 years before his death in 2006. I don't remember her from the 1988 campaign at all
0 (0%)
John Zaccaro (1984) real-estate developer whose "business associates" caused Walter Mondale much grief in 1984. (I do not expect John Zaccaro to win this poll)
0 (0%)
Joan Mondale (1976/1980) Known as "Joan of Art" because of her support of the arts
1 (5%)
Eunice Kennedy Shriver (1972) a giant best known for the "Special Olympics"
3 (15%)
Jane Muskie (1968) When the NH Manchester Union Guardian attacked her in 1972, her husband defended her emotionally. The MSM said he cried.
0 (0%)
Muriel Humphrey (1964) First wife of a vice president to serve in congress (served in senate in 1978 after her husband died). Fierce advocate of womens rights and abortion

With the exception of John Zaccarro, that was quite a list.

I went with Elizabeth Edwards for her courage and sense of humility. And any political spouse who would show up on DU gets bonus points!

These are women who have shaped our country's history and apparently no one here gives enough of a shit to even give their opinion.
