districts are drawn by whomever TPTB is at that time, D or R. If one looks at the big picture, the system in the 21st century is very tainted.

What does "marginalized" even mean in this context? There are voting irregularities and they need to be addressed but I don't believe there's any grand conspiracy to sway the election. I have a suspicion it means that your guy isn't winning so you are sad.

partially because smaller states get disproportionate power in Congress..
and also because my state votes so late that frequently the results are determined before we even vote.

.

The US DOT implemented the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices so a person can drive state to state and have consistent traffic signage and road construction--it was needed to develop predictability for interstate travelers.

The way the constitution allows each state to create abortive and convoluted means of holding elections is one of the failures of that document. It was added to give states power in controlling who was allowed to run for election, based off of their own terms. This includes disenfranchisement, weird poll tax forms of identification, etc.

As such, we have this election fiasco every two years.

We push democracy onto other countries, yet we constantly show them we don't know what the fuck we are doing.

in fact want it rigged that way. FFS, we're in the 21st century, and much of the voting processes/mechanisms are back in the 1800's.

Which is why the candidates work so hard to turn out their voters. I live in a swing state (Virginia) and my wife and I will be voting for the Dem nominee this fall. Hopefully Dem turnout will be enough to keep Virginia blue -- President Trump would be a disaster in so many ways.

Our voting system really sucks for us, but its highly entertaining for the rest of the world. Yeah, let's keep pushing, "democracy" on other nations.

And yeah, I think Hillary was told this was her turn, and the Oval Office was assured by the establishment/puppeteers. That's why they're so pissed at Bernie. I'm sure its the same story on the Pug side.

how this Congress we have and others could accomplish anything but making it worse. We look like absolute fools. If the US did not have military power, I think often it would not be taken seriously by the international community.

the fossilized Don Young, who has been in office since 1972 or 1974. The Republicans have gerrymandered our state districts to such a degree that they are a supermajority in both the state House and Senate. Even though most people here are fairly progressive in their thinking and independents outnumber Democrats and Republicans combined, we are stuck with a bunch of oil shills and religious wackos running our state government. It's pretty depressing.

President? Probably not much, given that the electoral college is slanted in favor of small population states.

Local races? I recall a few that came down to way less than 1% of the vote, so probably.
