2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumSo who do you think most superdelegates will support for the nomination? Biden, Warren or Sanders
I think Bernie Sanders is the most likely followed by Elizabeth Warren and than Joe Biden.
Clinton will have to withdraw her name from consideration soon after the last primary.

(4,451 posts)Clinton for me still. She may not even need super delegates..

(18,115 posts)She would need 78.5% of all remaining pledged delegates. Not easy and not going to happen.

(2,054 posts)And it really doesn't matter that much because they can change their minds and abandon her just like over 200 super delegates did at the 2008 convention.
Isn't that right?
Abandon ship! We done hit an iceberg! LOL

(10,721 posts)Was it, perhaps, because Obama ended up with more pledged delegates?
imagine2015
(2,054 posts)And Hillary brags about winning 8 of the last 10 primaries in 2008.
The super delegates knew that Obama was a far stronger candidate in the general election than Hillary.
Why in the world would they go with a weaker candidate?
Just like today!
Garrett78
(10,721 posts)Do you think that's coincidental?

(34,648 posts)I love how the whole future of Sanders campaign relies on Hillary being indicted. If that happened, they should vote for the next best Dem who ran, O'malley, period. And they might just do that if the impossible happened.

That having failed - big time! - it's now "let's pin our hopes on an indictment that will never happen".

3. Who will maintain the status quo, and hence the Superdelegates' position at the feeding trough?
Yeah, I expect you were thinking "What's best for the country" would be on that list somewhere, but that's not how they roll.

(11,945 posts)Winning the election would mean Sanders, Warren or Trump, in that order. These three are exciting populists and two of them have coherent, well thought-out policies that favor the people over the oligarchs.
Keeping the 1% happy would mean Biden or Trump in that order. Biden is definitely status quo, while Trump is probably status quo, but less predictably so. Also, Trump is scary, and none of the others (in this list) are.

No huge Clinton fan but she will be the nominee and the next President.
I am actually looking forward to the reaction of Bernie fans when he endorses and supports her. Will they run over him with his own bus?

(10,499 posts)of natural causes before the convention. Because that is more likely to happen then the ridiculous scenario in which she is indicted.
If Hillary were to passes away the nomination would go to either Joe Biden or Elizabeth Warren. Bernie is not going to get the nomination.
