Clinton campaign defends Hillary's refusal to cooperate with Inspector General e-mail investigation

Clinton spokesman says campaign prioritizing responses to FBI probe
By Nolan D. McCaskill
May 25, 2016

Hillary Clinton’s campaign on Wednesday defended her decision not to cooperate with a government watchdog's audit of her private email server, arguing that the Clinton team wanted to focus on responding to the separate and ongoing FBI probe of the matter.

“To our mind, it made sense to prioritize the review being conducted by the Justice Department and so, accordingly, Hillary Clinton has said since last August that she’ll be happy to sit with them at whatever point they approach her, which has not happened yet,” Clinton press secretary Brian Fallon told CNN’s Wolf Blitzer. “And she has similarly encouraged all of her aides to cooperate in every way with that Justice Department review.”

Fallon said that Clinton didn’t hide from the inspector general investigation by refusing to cooperate, arguing that she has answered numerous questions regarding her use of a private email server during her time as secretary of state.

Fallon suggested the campaign didn’t understand why the State Department inspector general would pursue an investigation on its own time while the same issue is being examined by the Justice Department.

He also said that there were questions raised about whether the inspector general — a nonpartisan position appointed by President Barack Obama — has an anti-Clinton bias, though he said there was no indication of any bias in the report that surfaced Wednesday.

The only reason why the State Department Inspector General criticized Hillary is because she is a woman and he is a sexist. Isn't the right .... or is that position total nonsense? Imagine 2015

"Fallon suggested the campaign didn’t understand why the State Department inspector general would pursue an investigation on its own time while the same issue is being examined by the Justice Department."

Fallon is lying. He knows that the FBI is looking at whether any crimes were committed with respect to the handling of classified information and the IG was looking at a variety of other issues related to the use of the server, e.g., whether Clinton violated the federal records act (not a criminal offense).

Is Director of the Federal Bureau of Reviews, James Comey, going to have to hold another presser to set these folks straight?
