On so many levels...
Chiefly these two come to mind immediately:
Generate significant level of voter interest, enthusiasm and engagement
Will sharply illustrate distinctions not only on policy issues, but intellectual and political acumen.
Would actually benefit the Democratic Party greatly in terms of the resulting enthusiasm, particularly given that this debate would generate more "news" than any of the preceding debates have generated, which so many have missed.
Personally I love the idea that walls will be torn down to the existing and stifling election circus charade that's been in play since forever.
It will also either prove or disprove what we Bernie supporters (and the polls have been showing) that Bernie is by far the more Superior Candidate against Trump.
I say GAME ON!

(7,321 posts)but please don't spray your spittle on people around you, thanks.
Trump might just back down from his statement last night, it's not as though he's the pillar of honesty and integrity, and "man of his word"..
But if he chooses to follow through, it would be great fun to watch. don't you agree? Aren't you just a little curious how that would play out?

So a debate between the two is not going to get into the main things that need to be discussed like the war on the middle class by the corporate interests.
Hell, Hillary and (the) Donald share the same business address in Delaware!

(7,321 posts)There are a number of images of Bill and Hillary with the Bush Fam which speaks volumes also, but never see commentary from that camp.
He was only kidding

(4,407 posts)This is it, right here! American "elections" have been so proscribed for such a long time, with the results being whoever is in office knob-gobbling Wall Street and other big-money interests.

(7,321 posts)It's the single most cause of psychological voter suppression, imo.
We're always served up the fear factor, when there's plenty enough to be disgusted with or fear with the status quo.
The game is rigged in more ways than "carters has pills".. which is why voter turnout is always so low in a country that loves to tout "best democracy in the world"... but we all know it's the best charade that money can buy, and that my friend, ain't democracy.

(71,542 posts)Bernie and Trump would beat up on the nominee...Clinton ...Bernie does enough of that anyway on his own. It would be bad for the party and good for Trump and Republicans...and Bernie shows he is not to be trusted by even considering...it. That and how desperate he is...hope California punishes him for his disloyalty.

(12,689 posts)If Sanders is gullible enough to walk into Trump's trick there is no telling what else Sanders would fall for running against Trump. Trump has made a fool out of him.

(4,229 posts)The mood of the electorate is populist, pro worker. The problem with both Trump and Hillary is both can stake out that ground but both lack credibility.
Right now I don't think that Trump has been called out on his populist words vs his populist deeds. I don't think Hillary can do this.
Both Warren and Sanders can. They can soften up Trump in a way that Clinton cannot due to her big Wall Street connections.

(2,580 posts)Sanders vs Trump would be a real chance for the message of Democratic populism to reach a vast audience. Sanders represents
this message more clearly, skillfully and credibly than Hillary.
It's a great opportunity for the Democratic Party and I hope Trump is held to his word by Fox News.

Feel the Bern
I think this is just the most exciting election in memory. Bernie's run is something I have longed hoped to see happen in my lifetime, but never dreamed I'd actually see it.
In solidarity!
