If Obama wins Arizona great, it shows the people aren't as loony as I think they are. If he loses, well so what.

my feeling is AZ could be "in play" *if* they devoted a lot of resources to taking it. That wasn't the strategy this year. Mind you, I don't think that was necessarily a bad call. The conservative base here runs deep, but steady influx of new residents over the last 30 years, combined with demographic changes like increasing hispanic ratios are slowly but steadily eroding the conservative hold.

They typically take 2-3 frustrating attempts before they flip.

See, e.g., Virginia.

Arizona will be the next such battleground, but it will take time and an aging Latino population.

Four years later Obama won both. McCain only beat Obama by 9 in AZ, and he was a favorite son. I don't expect us to carry Arizona this year, but I won't be shocked if we do.

NC was a case of changing demographics. And it's the least likely swing state to stay in our column.

Contrasted with VA, CO, which are now permanent swing states we can win every cycle, at worst.

But that was only one poll.

I think it was an outlier

I saw my first anti-Obama ads on TV here in Phoenix last night. I thought: Hmmm, is Willard getting worried about losing one of his "firewall" states?

in Arizona is under the control of the Mormon Church and a handful of Vulture Capital funds. So many folks have left because of the total bust that accued. Going to take a few years to recover and then there will be new people moving back. These idiots are still fighting the Spanish American war, mean while their brain power split to other areas of the U.S.. Here in the Southwest,it's going to be a;east 5 or more years to recover from this housing debacle. When you have close to 10 thousand homes and condo for sale in Vegas alone,do the math. Phoenix area is setting in the same situation. All the characters involved in the housing rip off have come in and bought these properties and are now trying do flip them.
