If not...why not?

(3,128 posts)It would be a blood bath for the Democrats. It would be a slap in the face of Bernie supporters as the DNC would be saying: "Anyone but Bernie."
Bernie has built a revolution. Tulsi Gabbard sacrifice her career to support him. Where was Elizabeth Warren?

I'm for Bernie all the way to Philly.

(3,128 posts)Of course, Hillary also has never held an executive office so the Hillary supporters may like Warren on that angle.

(4,451 posts)There is no way in hell anyone would support that. Kick that idea out. Won't happen. Watch some Hillary speeches and you will get to like her

(18,837 posts)You mean it's really that simple? That's the missing ingredient?
WOW!
Because if I know one thing with absolute certainty, it's that the DUers who haven't "rallied around" Clinton have NEVER seen ANY of her speeches.
And she's given a lot of them, to all kinds of people.
WOW!
I'm liking her already.

(57,936 posts)be Bernie. He ran.
Warren did not.
And I strongly suspect that Warren had good reasons for not running.
I think that because she was under a lot, a lot, a lot of pressure to run and chose not to.
She is great. A wonderful speaker. And I wanted her to run for so long.
But Bernie has run. The more I have learned about him and seen him campaign, the more I think he would make a wonderful president. It would be highly unusual but a Bernie/Warren ticket would be great with Bernie running for president.
There are two problems with that: they are from the same region; they are close to the same age.
But in spite of those reasons, they would still make a good team.
Warren is a far more effective speaker than Hillary. And then we would have a woman on the team. That would be a first in the White House.
Bernie, however, should be given the opportunity to step into the presidential candidacy because he has had the courage to run and has proved that he has integrity and the best interests of the American people at heart.
I would go for Bernie for president and Elizabeth Warren for VP. Neither of them is going to go far from Obama's foreign policy so there could be continuity in that respect. Maybe Kerry could be persuaded to stay on if Bernie wanted that. I have the sense that Bernie likes Kerry's direction. I could be wrong about that, but that is my impression.
But Bernie should be the presidential candidate if Hillary drops out -- and I think there is a good chance she will.
I say this as one who held on to the hope that Elizabeth Warren would put her hat in the ring for about as long as anyone. I think she has good reasons for not having done that, but I think maybe she could be persuaded to run for VP. I have read her book. It's great. So is Bernie's.

(18,837 posts)...anything is possible, but I don't see Clinton dropping out.
I think Elizabeth Warren will run if, and when, she's ready, and I don't think that's going to be this year. Would she accept a VP slot with Sanders? I don't know. Sanders getting the nomination is a long shot, but if he did, everyone would have do do some re-thinking.

(5,240 posts)But I would hate it if they gave it to her without running.
She would make a great veep though.
I'll vote for her when she runs against Trump in 2020.

(45,851 posts)The next few years are likely to be very tumultuous, as President Warren would have to address everything, as a Senator she gets to pick and choose her battles and what she focuses on.
For that matter I think Sanders is a little nuts too, anyone is who really wants that job and we know who really, really, really wants it.

(146,308 posts)We have a system for selecting Democratic nominees for President. That system is functioning as usual. There isn't going to some "miracle" at the convention. Not a chance.
