Santorum calls for Gingrich to drop out of race.

Sort of funny to me. Pot calls kettle a stumbling block now. Oh, Little Ricky, don't you love Democracy anymore, or do you just want the GOP to crown you the Ayatollah Meanie by default?

1. Adelson won't allow that. That's why he's funding Gingrich. Romney can't win against one con.

Adelson doesn't want an actual conservative winning the nomination or Presidency. He has to keep two cons in the race to keep one of them from getting all the conservative votes and beating Rmoney. If Gingrinch had dropped out after Iowa, Sanitorium would have it locked up by now.

3. Do you actually think Romney is conservative compared to Santorum and Gingrich?

Romney's more conservative than Obama, but considering he at one time was pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, and actually implemented Romney-care, I really doubt he'd govern much differently from Obama, see as how Obama hasn't been particularly liberally-inclined IMO.

And do you really think someone who made their fortune on gambling wants to let Rick Santorum running the show?

4. why doesn't Sanitarium offer NOOT his VP slot? He could do that after Ala since Noot says

it's do or die there.

I actually think Dems should hope though that Noot isn't on the ticket. Despite his views, disregarding them
for just a second, Gingrich is much more well spoken that Mittens of Ricky, IMHO. He has more intellect
and would be harder to handle in a debate.

5. well it can be argued that Ricky is doing better than Newt

having won 7 contests to 2 for Newt (including one in his home state). And that if they truly wanted a 'clear conservative alternative' to Romney then Santorum has more of a chance than Newt does. But this coming week will be critical to Newt. He already has conceded Kansas on Saturday (and Santorum probably will win it and have 8 wins). So it will come down to Alabama and Mississippi--if Newt loses both it's probably over.

6. Yabut, the same thing could be said about Ron Paul.

Who has won 0 states.

If Santorum could have had his 10% of the votes cast in Ohio, he would have toppled Romney that way, too.
Paul came to Idaho and made 5, or 6, campaign stops in just 2 weeks just before Super Tuesday and yet he only got 12% of the vote for all of his efforts.

Santorum wound up getting something like 10%.
Yet, Newt only got 5%.

So, they still wind up with a 3-way tie for the pieces of the pie.
Romney will end up with over 50% of that pie.
Santorum getting about a little over a quarter.
With Gingrich getting about a little less than a quarter of the pie.

And Paul will wind up getting the pie pan.
No states, and damn few delegates.

7. Why doesn't Santorum himself drops out to give Romney a better shot?

After all his own chances don't look all that good either.

11. I know, I know, it's like none of them get it.

Whoever gets the most GOP votes this spring, gets the least votes from Americans this fall.

And yet, they all want to be that guy that gets their ass stomped.
It's surreal.

14. I still think it's all for nothing. The GOP powers will go to a brokered convention.

They'll pick someone less disgusting (but still disgusting).

15. Well if we end up with no clear winner I would say they suck so much that

none of them would deserve the honor of losing to Obama in the fall.

Though a candidate who did not run in the primaries emerging from a brokered convention would have their own host of weaknesses.

16. Yeah, but the clown car has already given Obama MORE than enough material.

Someone out of the blue (or red in this case) wouldn't have as much baggage exposure. Either way, they just don't have anyone with even a small fraction of the charisma and intelligence Obama has.

12. Romney is a lot less dangerous..

Than the over- sized Newt or the Frothy mix. I know a lot of liberals-especially gay ones- are spite voting for Santorum in states with open primaries, but personally I am not willing to risk that. If by some horrid twist of fate the baggers get their way and a rethug takes the White House, we need the LEAST conservative rethug in there.
