2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumAuthoritarian Hillary supporters think they can make Bernie supporters heel...
They can't seem to figure out any other way to get us to support Hillary than to bully us and guilt us and force us into submission. That at the very least demonstrates poor emotional intelligence and creativity, as well as lack of emotional control.

(12,958 posts)In any substantive way to entice Sanders supporters to vote for her.
Not a single one. I have seen LOTS of the opposite, dissuasive rhetoric.
Hillary supporters are to GOTV as Garlic is to Vampires.
SheilaT
(23,156 posts)They simply repeat a few things over and over: The Math! 3 million more votes! Vetted!
None of which are compelling reasons to support her.
potone
(1,701 posts)I made repeated attempts to discuss issues with her supporters on this site, but they simply won't engage. All they do is attack Bernie and his supporters with the assertion that Hillary is more electable, and Saunders won't be able to get his agenda passed. No one ever says that her policies are actually better, which is a very odd thing in a primary season.
I am getting increasingly worried about the possibility that Hillary's campaign could crash before the GE. If that happens and we get Trump as president the consequences will be catastrophic.
grasswire
(50,130 posts)Because if that happens after she is the nominee, she will be forced to step aside, and the powers that be will bring in a substitute. Likely Biden. That will be unfair to the Sanders voters, terribly. But it will at least save us from Trump, as Biden would beat him like a drum.

(20,317 posts)Same goes for anyone else perceived to be a party insider, or affiliated with Hillary. And anyone selected would no doubt, rightfully, be viewed as such. They'd be tainted by the scandal as much as Hillary would be; the crook's pal stepping in to replace her because she was caught.

(26,371 posts)because the candidate's positions on those issues change so frequently that one could easily end up publicly disagreeing with The Leader.
It's safer to follow the campaign's lead and stick to slander and tone policing.

(1,786 posts)I agree with your reply. Try to talk about issues with that support group and most of the response is "she won, deal with it" or "3000000 votes" or "math" "glass ceiling" or some such other nonsense but nothing substantive in terms of actual policy issues / position.

(2,125 posts)I've never been as excited about a candidate (well, Dennis Kucinich too) but that doesn't mean I'm
going to follow his lead throwing support behind HRC. If he does that he's doing it so he can survive
in the Senate and because he's a man of his word. I just hope he doesn't hand her any money but
I seriously doubt that will happen.

(4,187 posts)It's funny that you think you have the authority to declare what people's motives are without knowing anything about them, and yet you get upset when someone else points out the symmetry of your own situation.
By the way, I love it when Bernie supporters resort to personal attacks. It shows that they don't have any logical points to make and are incapable of being civil.

(934 posts)Clinton supporters faced the same questions in 2008. Some went PUMA, some went Tea Party, and some went Obama. You need to follow your moral compass wherever it leads you.
What I find ironic, however, is that many Hillary supporters wanted the super delegate system ended after the 2008 election cycle, but we were told that we were just bitter losers. Maybe the DNC will listen this time around.
The real reform that I would like to see is a single national primary day open to all registered voters regardless of party affiliation. I think this would go a long way to reducing the influence of money in the races. In addition the news channels would be less able to impact the primaries with their craven strategies to increase ratings.
