"Hero's welcome": San Jose ♥ Hillary

Sounds like she's really in trouble here Note the nice words about Bernie:

Democratic Presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton greets supporters as she makes a campaign appearance at Parkside Hall in San Jose, Calif., Thursday, May 26, 2016.

San Jose: Hillary Clinton bashes 'loose cannon' Trump

SAN JOSE -- Facing a tightening primary battle in California and renewed criticism over her tenure as secretary of state, Hillary Clinton received a hero's welcome Thursday from more than 1,000 supporters in downtown San Jose eager to help the likely Democratic nominee get her campaign back on track.

Clinton devoted much of her 25-minute address in Parkside Hall to blasting "loose cannon" Donald Trump, who clinched the Republican nomination Thursday, as a menace to the world and working-class Americans alike.

"People say you talk about Trump a lot ... and I'll tell you why," Clinton said. "Because what he is saying is dangerous and divisive; what he is saying is harmful to our future and our country."

Clinton took a much different tack with Bernie Sanders, whom she described as a kindred spirit who would help her defeat Trump after they battle it out in the days leading up to California's June 7 primary.

"We are on the same page," she said, noting her support of universal health coverage, making college affordable and reining in Wall Street. "We are going to be coming together as a unified Democratic Party ... because Sen. Sanders and I -- our supporters together-- have so much more in common than we do with Donald Trump."

Hillary's plan is a little more comprehensive though. Krugman after the first debate in October:

For what it’s worth, Mrs. Clinton had the better case. Mr. Sanders has been focused on restoring Glass-Steagall, the rule that separated deposit-taking banks from riskier wheeling and dealing. And repealing Glass-Steagall was indeed a mistake. But it’s not what caused the financial crisis, which arose instead from “shadow banks” like Lehman Brothers, which don’t take deposits but can nonetheless wreak havoc when they fail. Mrs. Clinton has laid out a plan to rein in shadow banks; so far, Mr. Sanders hasn’t.

She knows she's got the nomination sewn up and I predict she'll make sure Sanders is a reasonably happy camper at the Philly convention. That's all he has to do really as Barack and the rest of the gang can take over from there.

The funny thing is that Hillary gets hundreds of protesters representing every conceivable cause at every appearance and Bernie doesn't get any. Why is that I wonder?

So glad she's spending a few more days here though she doesn't really need to as she'll win on June 7 with or without us. But Trump is running his mouth about "she can't beat Bernie!" so I guess she's going to deliver a grand finale they'll both remember LOL.

Palo Alto and Santa Clara, where most of the Silicon Valley firms are located, are very nice, yes, but San Jose itself is sort of a mixed bag with a lot of poverty and a lot of displaced families. It's not San Francisco by a long shot.

that was before Silicon Valley.

But that does not dispute what I said. They are one of the wealthiest cities in the nation and they have a lot of millionaires living there*. And it's mostly those rich people who are Hillary supporters. It may well bleed into the rest of the population, especially since there are so many Hispanics there too. It's not something I'd really want to brag about (that it's the richest cities who back Clinton). Still she only got a "couple" thousand at her Rally, and that's a really low ball number for such a big town...especially compared to what Sanders normally brings in. It's something to think about...millionaires probably don't attend political rallies...that may be why Bernie's are so big and Hillary's are so small.

I haven't been able to find anything on his event in San Fran. When was it? Today? Are you sure you aren't seeing a picture of him talking to his overflow crowd?

If his numbers were low, it's probably because, again, San Fran is one of the wealthiest cities in the nation. He was scheduled to get over 20K in Oakland.

* 224,800 millionaires between San Francisco & San Jose Metro Areas in 2009 (and there are thousands more if you added Atherton, Blackhawk, Palo Alto, Woodside, & more to it)

That was 2009. There are a lot more now.

Haven't seen the San Francisco ones either except for Hillary's. From what I can tell he got 500 tops which is just fine but describing it as 25,000 is completely absurd.

Incidentally he was apparently attacked by a protester while speaking in Oakland today which is pretty horrible.

before they got near Bernie. Three people were arrested.

ABC7 News was told they were members of an animal rights group that wanted to send a message to the senator.

According to channel 7 news there were over 20K at the plaza. That was just one rally in Oakland today. KGO TV says that too. Actually all the news sources are saying that. I can't find pics to back it up, but why would they all say that if it weren't true?

Sanders supporters started lining up here much earlier in the morning, before the gates opened. The line extended all the way around the downtown area. Oakland police estimate the crowd topped 20,000.

Is it?

And the bleeding into the surrounding area, and especially in a high Hispanic area...I thought she had an "in" with Hispanics, like blacks. You know, her firewall.

That doesn't mean they aren't American. It just means they have reasons to vote for her that other people don't have.

I know why a lot of blacks support her. I think a lot of Hispanics support her because of the unions they belong to who support her (you know...Huerta)...but that may just be the LA and Las Vegas area...I don't know. I live in a town with a high percentage of Hispanics and we voted for Bernie.

Shame on you for trying to make my statement into something that it is not, and put words in my mouth that I did not say.
