2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumKindly STOP Disrespecting the Intelligence Community in defense
of Hillary's INDEFENSIBLE BAD JUDGMENT.
The nonsense argument that "nothing bad happened" is OBSCENE because the members of the Intelligence Community CANNOT TELL US about anything BAD that resulted from the Secretary of State's email being compromised without endangering national security.
If they do know about "assets lost" (that means "people spying on our behalf" , they can't reveal it. If they do know about missions that went south, again, they can't reveal it.
They can't say whether Russia or China have copies of all of Hillary's emails, or only the ones Guccifer posted when he hacked into Blumenthal's account. We know Blumenthal had stuff he had no business having, and names were named. We know conversations were repeated when only a handful of people were in the room, and the people there increased their chances of figuring out "who was passing information to the Americans" just from emails on Wikileaks.
But we will never KNOW if our people died in our service due to carelessness, because our people won't further risk compromising National Security so they can say "j'accuse!" to the woman whose poor decision making may or may not have played a role in whatever happened -- or didn't.
It is disingenuous to say "nothing happened" when the only people who can confirm that for truth are bound to silence in defense of this country.
We don't KNOW and Team Hillary is counting on them to stay silent for love of country.
So please, STOP with the "no harm done" bullshit. The rules were intended to protect not only this country, but the people who work to defend it.
She broke the rules. Unless you are willing to put your bones and blood on the line, stop pretending increasing their risk doesn't matter.
It's ignorant, and embarrassing, and shames us all.
They matter. She knew better. Their lives matter.

(12,689 posts)Let's be real, you really couldn't give a flip about the intelligence community or anyone else involved with security, this outrage is all about Clinton beating Sanders. If Sanders was winning right now, but this investigation was ongoing I would bet that you wouldn't be discussing this and be instead planning your trip to Sanders' inauguration. This is just one long winded prayer for an indictment and imprisonment of Clinton to hand Sanders the nomination by default.

86. I'm sorry folks, but this is egregious.
This is a big fucking deal, and frankly shocking. I am shocked she had the poor judgement to do it, and appalled that our government actually honored this request? WTF, my workplace emails are more secure than the fucking State Department? Absolutely unreal.
For all those "no big deal people":
1. Yes, it is.
2. You would be salivating if this were a Republican official. You know it.

And I've held the same position for over a YEAR! Can you believe it? At least no I know the government didn't allow her to do it, she broke the rules. That helps a bit.

(57,936 posts)But I do think that Republicans will build this scandal into a much bigger deal than most Hillary supporters could ever imagine.
There are people out there, even liberals, who actually believe that the Clintons had someone murdered or even did it themselves. Whatever the truth is about the e-mail scandal it will hurt Hillary, indicted or not, a lot should she be our nominee.
Her trust poll numbers are very low. And the innuendo about the e-mails and all the other Clinton scandals tend to be believed partly because there is truth in them even if they are not always entirely true and because people do not trust Hillary.
If Hillary is our candidate, it will, for most voters, be a question of which one is the least trustworthy.
If Bernie is our candidate, we don't have that problem.

(9,841 posts)I did. Nothing but positive spin on Hillary from me from now on. If I can do it, you can too. Think of it as a do-it-yourself lobotomy.

(20,176 posts)Okay, this is a positive Hillary post.
I'm positive that Hillary Clinton committed the kind of intelligence breach that if she were a Republican, 90% of DU would be calling her execution for espionage and convinced she did it intentionally.
But...any sin is excusable to Clinton cultists, if you're Hillary. She could shoot puppies in the face with a .44 Magnum and her sycophants would claim those dogs had it coming. They're entirely inured to the reality that their candidate is what is wrong with the Democratic party and entirely in need of a purging.: Venial, crooked, stupid, vicious, vulgar and unfit for elected office at any level or position.
I'm positive she has it coming too...I hope she takes her cultists with her. Good riddance!

Time to let go, my friend.

(3,795 posts)How in the world would you know, or even remember, which of us criticized Rice, Powell, and the others.
For the record, just about EVERYONE here criticized them at the time. We were on the same page then.
For some reason, we seem split now. Funny that.

(2,064 posts)you clearly have to abandon your principles if you're a progressive seeking economic justice for all Americans.
I'm not willing to do that. I've voted Democrat for every presidential election since I was 18. This year I'll either write in Bernie or vote 3rd party unless Hillary disavows her corporate masters and returns the millions in filthy dirty blood money she has accepted from them. I'm not holding my breath.
