Sanders spoke to a small group of supporters during a private event at the Spreckles Veterans Memorial Building in Spreckles, just outside Salinas.
He said fracking should be banned nationwide.
Sanders pushed the distinction between himself and Donald Trump, whom he says doesn't believe in climate change, and Hillary Clinton, whom he says advocates for regulations on fracking, not an all-out ban.
Sanders said its too late for regulations, and the practice needs to be banned for health and environmental reasons.
Yep.

(7,473 posts)He's fooling his supporters into thinking we could just ban fracking right away. We depend on it for too much of our energy supply and too many jobs. Getting rid of fracking is a long range project which requires creating alternatives. Hillary has a plan to create alternatives too.
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: jobs are one thing, but with less than 6 percent of all U.S. energy coming from solar, wind and geothermal, and 20 percent of U.S. power coming from nuclear, if you phase out all of that, how do you make up...
SANDERS: Well, you dont phase...
UNIDENTIFIED MALE: that difference?
SANDERS: it all out tomorrow. And you certainly dont phase nuclear out tomorrow. But this is what you do do.
(APPLAUSE)
SANDERS: What you do do is say that we are going to have a massive program and I had introduced introduced legislation for 10 million solar rooftops. We can put probably millions of people to work retrofitting and weatherizing buildings all over this country.
(CHEERING)
SANDERS: Saving rebuilding our rail system.
(APPLAUSE)
SANDERS: Our mass transit system.
