Obama Says The Democratic Nominee Will Be Clear Next Week

Huffington Post:

ELKHART, Ind (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Wednesday he expected the winner of the Democratic presidential nominating race would be clear next week after Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders compete in races in California and New Jersey.

“I think that there has been a healthy debate in the Democratic Party, and it’s almost over,” Obama said during a town hall-style event broadcast by PBS.

People will “probably have a pretty good sense next week,” of who the nominee will be, Obama said.

I wonder who it could be.....

Many of us love the president and wish we could give him a third term. I conducted a poll on here a while ago that showed that a lot of people in both camps (probably more in the Hillary camp though) would rather have another 4 years of Obama than have their candidate become president. (I'm honestly not sure if I fall in that camp - if Obama could run again I'd be really torn between him and Bernie)

I am a little disappointed that he is treating next Tuesday as the finish line, because it feels like an F-U to the voters of DC, for him to wait so long to endorse, long after Hillary mathematically had it all but locked down, but then decide DC voters are not important enough to wait for. I know he is itching to get out there and help bring the party back together, but I don't see why he can't wait another week to avoid trivializing a primary held by voters who already get such a raw deal in terms of representation.

Hey there, Hillary Brah.

We female Bernie Bros have been too sensitive about the Hillary Brah's cute name for all of us Bernie supporters. I've realized the error of my ways and vow to never again send a "this is sexist" jury alert on any more Hillary Brahs' posts containing the term Bernie Bros. Yes indeed a sensible jury approved of your Hillary Brah's decidedly (by a 7-0 jury!) charming term of endearment. We female Bernie Bros stand in abject apology before you Hillary Brahs and firmly declare we shall do no wrong again. All hail the Hillary Brahs!

In light of these continuing jury decisions (7-0) to not hide those type of Hillary Brah posts, I am reforming my ways! I am apologizing to all the female Hillary Brahs in this thread (you even served on this jury! Now I feel even worse...) who were clearly offended by the thought that us female Bernie Supporters would ever believe your delightful "Bros" term for all of us was anything other than charming.

I see the error of my ways, Hillary Brahs, and affirm the right of all you Brahs to use the term Bernie Bros to refer to all of us Bernie supporters. I lie prostrate in supplication and declare I shall sin no more against Hillary Brahs!

The fact is, Bernie supporters who do these things are overwhelmingly white males. Most Sanders voters are neither party nor sympathetic to the misogynist, homophobic and frequently racist assholes.

hillary supporters will not win us over with statements such as these and the other rovian and brockian memes meant to malign progressives. note: even after hillary has pretty much declared herself the "nominee", the ugliness from her supporters toward bernie sanders continues.

Ill miss him too. I expect no matter how the 2016 election turns out I'll probably take the day off work on Jan.20 for a day of reflection.

This American has proudly stood by the POTUS through good times and bad and am proud of the job he's done in the face of OVERT FUCKING BIGOTRY and OBSTRUCTIONALIST GOP pigs.

Obama is not terribly popular amongst the dead enders, but then again no one is for a period of more than 2 years.

But there is very little chance it will change from the end of next week to the convention.

That's true.

But they wrote the headline "will be clear next week".

Maybe, but that's less true, because we have shades of meaning here. There are a lot of things that could happen between now and the convention.

But Obama stayed out of it, as that's what presidents do. Soon, though, he'll make it clear that he fully supports the presumed nominee. Talk will turn to who Clinton will choose as a running mate.

Speech and when his website launched. But people's reaction was immediate and organic.

Sat Jun 4, 2016, 12:09 AM
Jun 2016

I remember closed primaries and superdelegates and everything else Bernie supporters complain about being around in 2008. I remember Hillary having a huge superdelegate lead from the very start, and I remember them always being included in media outlets' delegate count, and usually without any specific notation about the difference between pledged delegates and supers.

What obstacle did Bernie Sanders face in 2016 that Barack Obama did not face in 2008? Because I'm not seeing it.
