Ok, my original thread was about the general election
http://www.democraticunderground.com/10027872174#post54
but it got locked and I was told to re-post it in GDP, because apparently everyone on this board has terrible reading comprehension.
So, here it is again:
And everyone knows they are stupid enough to do it.
This election is going to split the country along gender lines. And the majority of men in this country are going to vote for this idiot, this thief who doesn't pay his bills, who doesn't know anything, and who thinks he can just coast along by seat-of-his-pants answers, like a kid trying to bluff his way through a book report on a book he hasn't glanced at.
The only question is will enough women vote for Clinton, and will few enough men vote for Trump to create a big enough gap for a Democratic victory.
My gender should be ashamed of this - and if you know men in your lives who might be voting for this asshole, please do what you can to change their minds.
I was referring to this poll: http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/poll-majority-americans-dislike-hillary-clinton-donald-trump-n578926
which shows that if the election were held today, a majority of men would vote for Trump.

I think that would make just about any thread more readable.

(4,711 posts)Or perhaps realize that they have their own set of issues and concerns that you could try to address in order to compete for their votes.
Nah, that's crazy talk.

Those who have privilege resent losing it. That's why they vote Republican.

(4,377 posts)A hatred of women and racial minorities is the only possible reason a white man might have for not voting Dem. Because of course being born into outrageous levels of privilege ensures that white men across the country all live lazy, entitled lives without any of the humble financial worries that actual people face.
Am I doing this right?
geek tragedy
(68,868 posts)white men are the most rightwing voting race/gender demographic in the country.
Why do they vote Republican so much? Look who runs the Republican party, top to bottom--white men.
It's identity politics.
Kentonio
(4,377 posts)Yes for a small minority it is indeed racism and sexism, but for a huge swathe of working class white men its purely because they don't feel represented by either party and the Republicans aren't the ones who sit and insult them regularly by calling them racists and sexists.
Why exactly do you think populist movements keep attracting that demographic? It's because they generally feel like no-one is listening to their problems and that when they try and raise their issues they're told by Dems that they're self entitled and privileged and that they should shut up while real problems are addressed.
We lose tens of millions of votes every election because of this short sighted stupidity.
Glad to see another person see's what I see . This drubbing of an entire section of society is getting a little old . People are not homogenous , not even white men .

white men are raised with a sense of entitlement that no other members of society do

(8,311 posts)Get them to work as poll workers for their counties, as the people who have done the work for years to help us vote are getting older and the next generation has to step up.
Don't try to blame older people for the outcome of this primary just because they turned out and that's who they supported more, on average.

For one example, the African-American vote should not be under 90 percent for the Democratic nominee. Barack Obama won his first election by +7.26 and carried 95 percent of blacks. With re-election in 2012 by +3.86, he carried African-Americans with 93 percent of their vote nationwide.
When John Kerry lost the popular vote in 2004 by 2.46, he received 88 percent of the vote from blacks. A Republican getting at least 10 percent of the African-American vote nationwide will win a presidential electionand this was true with George W. Bush, who demonstrated this as he received 11 percent of their vote in 2004.

(14,524 posts)The problem ISN'T crappy voters. The problem IS crappy candidates.
Given the choice between two arrogant oligarchs, both with significant legal, moral, and ethical issues, there are many of us that will not be guilt tripped into being "brought to heel" by either of them.
Nominate the wrong candidate, lose the election. That's how elections work. The blame for that loss falls on those that force the wrong candidate on the rest of us.
Beside multiple Clinton fans have told me many times, they neither needed or wanted my vote. I'm happy to oblige.

(7,804 posts)All candidates platform on constellations of factors, isolating a single factor and supposing its inherent monolithicity without any established relation of cause to effect isn't politics, PP, it's more like horoscope reading.
Get over your misandry, eh? It doesn't do anything.

(1 post)Hopefully once the primary is settled and she's the nominee, women will rally behind Hillary in more solidarity. I found this meme that captures my feeling about the "woman's card."
