(43,153 posts)She's not always the best speaker from the podium but she seems to be especially energized today.

(10,406 posts)My husband is a Bernie fan and I'm a Hillary fan. He rarely has anything nice to say about Hillary.....but he woke me up and said to me....you need to see this.....she is kicking Trump's ass all over the place! ....which is the nicest thing he's ever said to me about Hillary, lol
She is really laying it out point by point against Trump! This is great!

(26,046 posts)Obama and Bill Clinton, and also Reagan, are and were all quite charismatic speakers in a very real sense, but Hillary often isn't. She's a good speaker, and always on point, but that "rockstar" dynamic is rarely there. But it's kinda there today.

(43,153 posts)And if she delivers more speeches like today, I think she'll be just fine.
obamanut2012
(26,046 posts)With some help from Mobama and Warren, too.
Mr Maru
(216 posts)Also she's going up against Trump, who reads like a 7th grader in his first day of speech class whenever he tries to go from prepared remarks, and devolves into performance art, pitching his books and bodily function jokes when he doesn't.
I think we're going to be fine here.
And I think she's getting the hang of this thing.
I've never understood what was so "magical" about the guys in this race, screaming from the podiums. One in a stream-of consciousness and the other the same. damn. thing. over. and. over. and over. - and can't articulate in any way shape or form how any of it is actually supposed to happen. It's just going to. No thanks.

(11,366 posts)Both she and Trump will have us in so many wars it'll make your head spin.

(9,893 posts)Hillary virtually promised to keep us in continual war in the Middle East and North Africa. Tweety said that she was obviously trying to appeal to neo-cons like Bill Kristol and Charles Krauthheimer(sp). Haven't we had enough of the Neo Cons?
She's right that Trump is a loose cannon, but she just confirmed that we will continue to be at war.
It's something of a jump ball to me on foreign policy between these two.

Trump wouldn't do much about it, either, but at least it wasn't his policies that gave ISIL strongholds in the Middle East.

It's about HONOR!
Juxtapose THAT with Tinyhands Trump's desire to torture and murder the families of terrorists.
ancianita
(35,932 posts)any arrogant vibe as she slammed Trump to his WWE floor. He will never, in his most serious tone, be able to best her in debate.
Her ending brought a tear, it was so powerful.
I needed to see this.

(216 posts)Quick write-up as it was on:
-----------------------------------------------
Choice at stake this election - Fearful America vs. Confident America
The candidate Republicans have elected CANNOT DO THE JOB
DT - Not just different - DANGEROUSLY INCOHERENT, not even really ideas (nervous laughter from crowd), just a series of bizzare rants, personal feuds and outright lies (more laughter and CHEERS from crowd).
DT is not just unprepared, temperamentally UNFIT. Should NEVER have nuke codes, may hit button because someone got UNDER HIS VERY THIN SKIN.
DT wants to give nukes to more countries, abandon allies, treat our debt like his casinos.
DT wants to kill families and commit war crimes.
DT says he doesn't have to listen to generals because he says he has quote "a very GOOD BRAIN."
Says "I know more about ISIS than the generals do.
Says global warming is a Chinese hoax.
Would pick fight with our friends, UK, Germany, Mexico, THE POPE.
Says he has foreign policy because Miss Universe pageant was in Russia
Says America is 3rd world country.
Donald Trump says these things because he doesn't know America, doesn't deserve to lead it. Unlike him I have experience. Short list of her many, many awesome accomplishments.
CROWD GOES WILD
I have sat in the situation room. Not new to this work. Choice is CLEAR.
America is exceptional, like Lincoln's words "The Last, Best Hope of Earth" we must not shrink away and leave a vacuum.
1st must be STRONG AT HOME. Infrastructure, address income inequality, break down barriers to health and education including bigotry and racism.
2nd Must stick with allies! We need allies to maintain strength against countries like North Korea. Explains concept of working with allies and benefits. Moscow and Beijing would love to have US elect President who would weaken our standing by abandoning allies.
3rd Need to embrace ALL tools of power including DIPLOMACY. Takes patience, and time. (read here intelligence and attention span that DT doesn't have) Must keep all options on the table, military action only if necessary, talk is better.
Donald Trump doesn't know the first thing about Iran: ASK HIM, it'll become clear!
No risk of people losing their lives if you blow up a golf course deal! (LAUGHTER) It does't work like that in world affairs.
Just being on the same episode of 60 minutes with Putin is not the same thing as dealing with Putin
Donald's tools he brings to the table are bragging, mocking, composing nasty Tweets! I bet he's composing some right now! (LOUD LAUGHTER)
What is Donald's affection and fascination with strongmen/tyrants? Recounted NK leader's execution of uncle like it was an action movie, said you had to admire the Kim family takeover of NK, gave Putin an "A" as a leader. Said maybe Syria should be given to ISIS as a "free zone."
America deserves better. Those who serve our country and put their lives on the line in uniform deserve better.
Donald Trump took out full page ads in 1987 saying "the world was laughing at us" He's not fit, why would he want to be a leader of a place he thinks so little of?
Matters when he says he would order the commission of war crimes. US soldiers sheltered women and children when going after OBL. That's what honor looks like.
It matters when he makes fun of the disabled, calls women pigs, proposes banning entire religion and plays COY with WHITE SUPREMACISTS.
What do we say to the world/our children if leader is a bigot? Immigrants, Muslims, fight and SERVE in our armed forces. DT could learn something from them.
Temperment: Big decisions made with imperfect and incomplete information. That's the job. Need open mind, HUMILITY. If you're convinced you're ALWAYS RIGHT you will make the wrong decisions. Recalls night in situation room with PBO, the mission to take down OBL. Troop lives depended on them. Try to imagine Trump in that chair.
Donald Trump's got America ALL WRONG. We ARE stronger together. Two visions ahead of us:
One vision of America is angry, afraid and BASED on the idea the America is weak, and in decline
Other vision is hopeful, generous, and confident that America IS great - talks about going to 112 countries and never failing to be amazed by the sight of AF1 lit up on the runway with the seal of the United States on the side.
She absolutely NAILED this speech!
