2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGreat speech. Home run.
And puts things in perspective. Hillary looking presidential, laying it all out there, telling the world just what's at stake with Donald Trump so close to the presidency.
Meanwhile, Bernie is talking nonsensically about "momentum" and trying to convince superdelegates to reverse the voters.

(2,550 posts)I didn't watch the speech yet, I assume it was good, that's what everybody is saying.
Did she take any questions at the end?
That's usually my favorite part of political events.

(4,311 posts)Hillary is amazing at Q and As. She knows policy backwards and forwards. It's one of the reason she prefers smaller venues, so that she can interact one on one with voters and talk to them about policy.

(4,311 posts)She does Q and As at many of her events.
Here's an example of Hillary unscripted:

(1,078 posts)And I'm a Bernie supporter. But, that speech...Grand freakin slam! There was a few small spots where I said "I wish she hadn't said that"*. But for 99% of it, she crushed it (which is a very good thing in my part of the country). Stylistically, I think she over did it slightly on the flags. But her tone of voice, which I often criticize, was spot on for 99% of it. And she smiled the big, genuine grin? Pretty damn cool. She needs to do that more often. Along with the mocking humor. Perfect way to go after Trump, and guaranteed to get under his skin.
*There was one part she said something like "Trump's policies would cost $30 trillion over the next 20 years. No need to pad the stats like that. People see right through that. Even if Trump won he would only be in power 4 or 8 years. Not 20. Better to say something like "Trump's policies would cost $6 trillion over 4 years". It still contains the "t" word so it's still plenty eyepopping.
The other stuff that sounded a little off (from a tactical point of view) was a couple times she said Trump had this or that flaw "for decades". I couldn't help thinking: Well, you and Bill we're friendly with Trump "decades ago". Better to say "Trump's been like this for years". It conveys basically the same meaning without opening her up to an easy retort.
I also detected a slight gratuitous shot a Bernie supporters once or twice (on the subject of party unity). Unnecessary in a speech that had no reason not to be 100% anti-Trump.
