2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHe is a Democrat. Just my opinion.
I get that he is currently fighting the party. I get that he has gone a bit too far at points. He is an activist and "too far" is what gets eyes on movements.
That is part of being a Democrat. We are a big tent. Contrary to current conversation the Democratic Party is not a bunch of yes people, nor should it be.
Sanders himself has done well in the primary. He has talked about issues dear to most Democrats. He also did it in spectacular fashion. The flair of a Democrat.
I still think Sanders is going to continue his current path until the last state votes. Then the campaign will be gone outside of lobbying for SD's. While some of it will be public, more and more will be private.
I think Sanders is going to surprise a lot of us. He is a Democrat. I hope that Sanders speaks at the convention, is welcomed, and that he knocks his endorsement out of the park. It's what a Democrat would do and he is a Democrat.
One last bit on why the troublemaker is and should stay a Democrat.

(11,417 posts)general election. I no longer have any faith that he will do what Hillary did in 2008.
I think Ssnders sees himself and his revolution as something outside the two party system.
He is nor sane in my book.

(6,282 posts)As for endorsing Hillary, if she become the nominee, he will endorse. Until that time, of course he has the right to continue the campaign.
As for claims he is not sane, well, I might say the same about Clinton (I won't -- she is highly competent and all too capable; I just disagree about what she wants to do)

(30,481 posts)I think he is going to continue his fight from the inside of the best vehicle for progress. Meanwhile, a good portion of his base will be sitting just outside party lines. That will garner more clout than he has ever had and we've already seen it is transferable(Warren). I'm not saying enormous clout but it is a significant coalition.

(68,715 posts)and is hurting our chances in November. I used to like Bernie...no more. Sanders should not speak unless he concedes and endorses...and if he utters on nasty remark about Hillary or the party then cut off his mic.
