2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBernie's flagrant hypocrisy. Let's count the ways:
1) Rants against "the establishment" but JOINED "the establishment" because as an Indy he wouldn't have had a snowball's chance in hell. (And has also been in public office himself for decades.)
2) Claims the party that damn well welcomed him in and has done as much for him as any candidate with data support, etc., even after years of bad mouthing the party and having never been in the party, needs to "open its doors." (What a load of steaming bullshit that one is.)
3) Rants about "rigged" this and "rigged" that, but then wanted to "RIG" Nevada when he damn well never won the caucuses and didn't get enough delegates to the convention.
4) Rants about "rigged" elections EXCEPT the elections HE wins under the very same rules and systems.
5) Says the super delegate system is "corrupt" but wants those very same "terrible" super delegates to switch to him even though he will have won fewer states, many fewer votes, and many fewer pledged delegates.
6) Has attended posh summer political retreats with fine accommodations, dinners, etc. himself.
7) Rants about bad millionaires but has made Devine and Weaver millionaires with his $27 a piece campaign donations.
8) Rants about corruption but won't release his own tax returns and is under scrutiny now for possibly having used his influence to help his wife get the bad loan which later led to the ruining of the college in Burlington.
The list probably goes on, but I will leave it for others to add to it.
The moral of the story, Bernie fans, is that your white knight just isn't as white you think.

(38,484 posts)The OP implies that his/her candidate has no such issues, when in fact, she does - in spades. THAT is hypocrisy. Not to mention that most of the points are a matter of bad opinion, or outright prevarication.

(25,471 posts)Clinton has done few, if any, of those things.
She certainly hasn't run around for the past two months whining that everything is rigged.
Or ranted against the establishment.
Or callled the SD system corrupt.
Or withheld her tax returns.
What was your point again?

(27,814 posts)By his own words, Bernie proved himself to be a hypocrite the minute he decided to run on the Dem ticket.
"Mr. Transparency" won't disclose his full and complete tax returns. He also won't discuss anything he did before entering politics in his forties.
Claims he is well-liked by his colleagues - but can't get them to endorse him.
Claims he is an "outsider" - while he has been a politician for decades.
Designates anyone who doesn't support HIM - group, individual, union, organization - as "The Establishment" that must be fought against.
My pet peeve when it comes to Bernie's hypocrisy is his claim that he's brought new young voters to the Party. He hasn't. He's brought out new younger voters to vote for HIM, while telling them how corrupt the Democratic Party is. It was set up as a self-fulfilling prophesy: "If you vote for me and I win, the Democratic Party can be saved by ME. If I lose, it proves that the Democratic Party is a corrupt part of the evil Establishment that can't be trusted."
Bernie's BIGGEST hypocrisy is that he has presented himself throughout as being For The People. Since day one, it's been All About Bernie, while "The People" who don't support him - AAs, PoCs, women, etc. - have been dismissed as "Confederate/red-staters", low-info voters, 1%ers, status-quo adherents, and/or part of the evil Establishment who are conspiring against him.
I will be SOOOOO happy to see this man slink back to Vermont, defeated once and for all.

(11,360 posts)... why would you support a candidate who rails against the influence of corporate money in politics while personally soliciting such funds? ... or one who claims to be for transparency in government, but goes to great lengths to hide her public records?
My candidate is not perfect, but he's better than the alternatives.
