Victoria Woodhull Ran for President Before Women Had the Right to Vote

dent of the United States is no small thing, especially if the candidate is a woman. But while Hillary Clinton is the most successful presidential candidate to date, she is far from the first to run for executive office. Over the centuries, more than 200 women have sought the country’s highest office, to varying degrees of success. And leading the way for all of them was Victoria Claflin Woodhull: a 19th-century women’s rights activist and business owner.

When Woodhull began her campaign for the presidency in 1870, this was no small thing. At the time, women were still about 50 years away from having the right to vote, and even many small, seemingly mundane everyday experiences were off-limits, Judy Woodruff reports for the PBS Newshour

Still oppressed. Still fighting for our rights. Still fighting for equal representation. It matters.

I'll totally ignore Hillary's failed, warmongering policies and tendency to lie to satisfy the need for a woman. Thank goodness someone finally made the case based on genitalia before we all screwed up and voted on policy.

You are clearly uneducated on the psychological and societal damage with women and minorities when it comes to equal representation. This topic deserves more thought and respect than you are willing to give it. Your reply is textbook strawman and offensive. Well done Matt.

3. I agree they do not have equal representation and I agree that oppression is prevalent

That, however, doesn't earn my vote. I vote on policy and issues, not genitals. Anyone who does vote based on gender and is willing to ignore glaring policy failings and other issues is a child who should not be allowed to vote.

I hope you can see it. It's textbook and blatant.
