In her speech in California, Hillary Clinton simply and easily outclassed Trump.

No question about it. He couldn't even respond in any way that made sense. All he could do was to say she should be jailed.

Donald Trump doesn't have words on his side. Donald Trump doesn't have even a dull razor for a mind. He is simply a boorish frat boy who uses insults as arguments. He calls a judge who ruled against him in a lawsuit a "Mexican." He can't actually argue the case, so he reverts to name-calling.

That is Donald Trump's only refuge when someone points out his mental deficits or lack of any ideas that have merit.

Hillary Clinton, on the other hand, has vast intellectual superiority over Trump and it is clearly visible when anyone compares what the two people say on the campaign trail. As a candidate, Donald Trump is the weakest excuse for a candidate that the Republicans have ever fielded.

Oh, he'll get the votes of the doltish class of voters, the ones for whom racial slurs, misogynistic jibes and blustering substitute for actual thought. But, those are not the majority. Hillary will get the votes of sensible people, including many Republicans, who are watching Donald Trump make a mockery of Republican politics. My 91-year-old mother, who has voted Republican always, said to me on the phone a couple of days ago, "How could anyone vote for that boorish pig? I'll vote for Hillary this year."

Hillary has set the tone for this General Election, and she will prevail, by sheer dint of intelligence and good sense. Donald Trump is completely outclassed for the 2016 election. His campaign is toast, almost before it begins.

Watch the polls, once the Democratic primaries are settled. Just watch them. You'll see.

I don't know personally, so I don't try to do that here. I don't assume that everyone on DU is a Democrat. I think that would be a false assumption, really.

that Trump is a dangerous bigot. As usual she's late to a long standing battle. Some of us have opposed Trump very actively since the 80's, Hillary and Bill went to his parties and that sort of thing, laughing it up. So it is good that she does see him for what he is now. At long loving last.

There will be many more, along with some one-on-one debates with Trump. She'll have many opportunities to outclass, outsmart, and outrage The Donald. I'm looking forward to seeing them all.

"And if America doesn’t lead, we leave a vacuum – and that will either cause chaos, or other countries will rush in to fill the void. Then they’ll be the ones making the decisions about your lives and jobs and safety – and trust me, the choices they make will not be to our benefit.
That is not an outcome we can live with."

She will continue the current wars and promote the US 'policing' the rest of the world...

"Third, we need to embrace all the tools of American power, especially diplomacy and development, to be on the frontlines solving problems before they threaten us at home." ... "Now we must enforce that deal vigorously. And as I’ve said many times before, our approach must be “distrust and verify.” The world must understand that the United States will act decisively if necessary, including with military action, to stop Iran from getting a nuclear weapon. In particular, Israel’s security is non-negotiable. They’re our closest ally in the region, and we have a moral obligation to defend them."

When did the US need to become more imperialistic? when did this become a progressive / liberal position?

"Fifth, we need a real plan for confronting terrorists. As we saw six months ago in San Bernardino, the threat is real and urgent. Over the past year, I’ve laid out my plans for defeating ISIS.
We need to take out their strongholds in Iraq and Syria by intensifying the air campaign and stepping up our support for Arab and Kurdish forces on the ground."

Now she's throwing Obama under the bus? 'we need a real plan for confronting terrorists'? Obama doesn't have a real plan being acted upon currently?

"And one more thing. A President has a sacred responsibility to send our troops into battle only if we absolutely must, and only with a clear and well-thought-out strategy. Our troops give their all. They deserve a commander-in-chief who knows that."

Where does Libya fall into the category of 'well thought out'?

Does any of this shift to war hawk concern you in the least bit? this is a significant shift RIGHT of a DEM and away from liberal/progressive ideology

No. Donald Trump concerns me, though, and she demolished him handily. I want a Democrat in the White House for many, many reasons. I have great confidence that Clinton will win in November.

I think I saw this identical post from you earlier today. In fact, I think you have pasted it into more than one thread. I read it, but did not reply to it, for the reason stated above.

You have NO issue with the points I posted from her speech at all?

If this is your only 'guideline' "I want a Democrat in the White House" then I will make sure I approach your posts in the future using that context

principles and ideology have no bearing, only the 'blue jersey' and who wears it in any political race at any level...

the 'many, many reasons', really comes down to one, not having a 'red jersey' winning

This fills in a lot of the 'blanks' about you
