(13,598 posts)Hate is debatable, but fear is absolutely something that belongs in any sane decision-making process.
The idea that you should ignore possible negative outcomes and assume that the best will happen regardless of the evidence is not a sensible one.

I do not swim upstream of Niagara Falls because I fear the consequences of doing so.
Absent fear, one can dispense with all kinds of safeguards.
Should someone engage in unprotected sex? Why not? They might get a disease or they might not. The disease might be curable, or it might not.
Meh, what good is fear. Throw away the condoms.
