Clinton Ends Campaign With Clear Call to Elect Obama

By ADAM NAGOURNEY and MARK LEIBOVICHJUNE 8, 2008

WASHINGTON — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton brought her campaign for the White House to an end on Saturday with a rousing farewell to thousands of supporters here and an emotional and unequivocal call for her voters to get behind Senator Barack Obama, the man who defeated her for the Democratic nomination.

For 28 minutes, standing alone on a stage in the historic National Building Museum, Mrs. Clinton spoke not only about the importance of electing Mr. Obama, but also about the extent to which her campaign was a milestone for women. She urged women who had supported her — who had turned out at her headquarters, flocked to her rallies and poured into the polls to vote for her — not to take the wrong lesson from her loss.

The legal mess she is in is going to stink the place up and only republicans will be happy.

Do us a favor Hillary and do what you did 8 years ago!

The 2008 California Democratic primary took place on February 5, 2008

California was one of the first - this time they are one of the last. Gee, I wonder why that happened?

But reporters were talking about the debt = dropping out - endorsement quid pro quo as early as may 2008.

US elections: Hillary Clinton 'about to drop out'

Howard Wolfson, Mrs Clinton’s chief of communications, meanwhile admitted to debts of $21 million, but insisted the show would go on. The candidate has already lent her campaign $11.6 million, and there are suggestions that Mr Obama may help her out with a fundraising event if she quits soon and works for the good of the party.

You might be able to get a sneak preview through one of the booksellers free that will contain that section if you're really impatient.

Another cool thing is OpenLibrary and the libraries that have Overdrive e-book borrowing. I understand not wanting to pay her for the book just to hear the claims.

At the end of the contest, Hillary sent an 11-page memo to superdelegates asking them to give her the nomination instead of Obama arguing that she was the stronger candidate, and Bill Clinton personally called the superdelegates arguing that America would not elect a black man. That strategy failed, and she conceded five days later.
