2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMinnesota Democrats vote for 'elimination or reform' of the Super Delegate system.
Early on, delegates approved a nonbinding resolution that says the state DFL (Democratic Farmer Labor) Party "supports the elimination or reform" of the "super delegates" system. The motion passed 552 to 480.

I'd like to see the Super Delegate system abolished.
I'd settle for requiring Super Delegates to vote with the plurality of Pledged Delegates on the first ballot, and then let them vote for anyone if nobody gets a majority on the first ballot.

OP
It's about democracy, not my preferred candidate in this election or future elections.

(3,072 posts)1. Wouldn't clinton already be the nominee then?
How does abolishing the superdelegates help sanders?

But Clinton doesn't have the majority of possible Pledged Delegates.

(891 posts)2. That would be fine by me as they always pick the candidate with the most pledged delegates anyway.
It really wouldn't change much if they didn't exist, but would lead to less whining.
