(25,699 posts)Are you expecting some sort of widespread coverage? is ABC going ot break into the latest episode of "The Bachelorette" is news that Arley Staircase, a poster on a website named "Democratic Underground" has opined, "fuck naderites"?
You're talking (well, shrieking... well, typing the equivalent of a shriek) to DU'ers, on DU, so one must be forgiven for assuming your target audience is among DU'ers.

(18,837 posts)...if, in fact, the post is actually about Nader, and given the current tone here, I'd say that there is a 50-50 chance that it has nothing to do with Ralph Nader.

(25,699 posts)When 20% of your party jumps to vote for the other party, you can't blame the 3-5% of voters who consistently don't vote for either party for not voting for yours.

(10,857 posts)There were over 97 thousand dumbasses in Florida who voted for Nader instead of the environmental candidate who had a chance to win.
Now lead and mercury levels are higher in the drinking water, the sea levels are rising, climate change is runaway, and golf course water hazards comprise a tragic percentage of America's "wetlands."
You did all of that, Nader voters. Don't try to blame the imaginary "turncoat Democrats," who cannot be quantified. Blame the ninety seven thousand of you fools who thought there was no difference between the political parties and made America a shittier place to be as a direct result.
And keep drinking that cool, clean Florida water.

(25,699 posts)20% of Democrats nationwide joined them in doing so. This isn't imaginary, this is hard statistics from the election.

(25,699 posts)Three hundred and eight thousand Democrats voted for George Bush in Florida. I don't know how math works in your private universe, where Perot voters are apparently "the left" as well, but in the physics of my universe, three hundred and eight thousand is a larger number than ninety-seven thousand. More than three times as large, in fact.
Also math in my universe shows that when you take three hundred and eight thousand items from one side, and put htem on a different side, that's a total swing of six hundred and sixteen thousand between the two. While if you take ninety-seven thousand, and don't move them to a different side, they don't create any swing at all.
I could draw an illustration for you, if you like?

(10,565 posts)I didn't say it was the only reason but a major contribution. It's amazing how Nader supporters stay in denial of the consequences of their mistake

(25,699 posts)173,000 voters being purged from the rolls in Florida had an impact.
Another 100-200k voters having their votes invalidated or misappropriated through that "hanging chad" nonsense had an impact.
308,000 voters from the Democratic party voting for the Republican candidate had an impact.
This is just looking at the voting itself, if you really like I could get into the state GOP's corruption and efforts to fuck over the entire process. And if you've got time, I could point out that Gore was running a fucking awful campaign.
All of the above are factors well before 97,000 non-Democrats voting for someone other than a Democrat. Seriously, hte fact that Republicans voted for the Republican is more consequential and you might as well be demanding they be ashamed for not voting for the Democrat. It'd make as much sense.
"Blame Nader" is the Democratic Party's coping mechanism. it has no basis in reality, but it's a reflexive tow-minute hate meant to absolve Gore of any responsibility for his godawful campaign, and also to preserve the Democratic Party's fetishization of bipartisanship by avoiding any blame directed at the GOP.
And, hate to burst another bubble of yours, but at the time I was 17 years old and living in Alaska. So your hypothesis of why I'm taking your bullshit to task is sorely mistaken.
