What Will You Be Wearing to History on Tuesday?

When History is made on Tuesday, after the polls close in New Jersey, and Secretary Clinton is recognized by the media as the Democratic Party nominee for President of the United States of America--the first female nominee for President of a major American political party--what will you wear to History?

I will be wearing a comfortable shoe, probably sneakers or hiking boots. (I could never wear flip-flops or sandals because that little piece of rubber or leather separating the Big Toe from his friends always felt weird to me.). I will have on shorts and a t-shirt, socks and clean underwear.

I would wear pearls, but I'm a guy, and I don't own any. I guess I could borrow a tasteful string for the occasion.

More importantly, I guess, is what will you be drinking to celebrate this Historic Event? Beer? Wine? Some manner of hard liquor? I'm not much of a drinker, but I do have some cooking wine and will probably break it out for a toast to our strong, hard-working, intelligent fighter!

Cheers to us!

... except for faux conspiracy theories and RWTPs. I voted and campaigned for Senator Obama because I lived in Illinois at the time and knew how incredibly special he was. While I was watching, intently, the race for Illinois' Senate seat, it dawned on me that one of the two, Obama or Ryan, would one day be President.

Secretary Clinton won me over with her gracious speech at the 2008 DNC, her excellent work as SOS, and after reading and watching her speeches. After going through 2008, I already knew she had a formidable intelligence and was a fearsome debater.

MFM008, I will give really young people the benefit of the doubt, but anyone 25 years or older should know that that's the Republican con--they go with ginned-up scandals. I say 25 years because anyone that old has lived as an adult through the GOP trying everything to get at President Obama, from birtherism to Acorn to the purchase of his home in Illinois to the IRS picking on conservative groups to Fast and Furious to Benghazi to Solyndra and on and on.

That's all they got. Seems, unfortunately, to be all Senator Sanders' supporters have as well. Cheers!

Both Clinton's and Obama have SS details. Obama can't go anywhere without making a scene. So he could go here because of all the SS being around for the finality of the primary. But the tweet I saw days he'd be there Wednesday, not Tuesday, not sure if he'd be there in time anyway.

I knew this well before that when I watched one of his first interviews with Wolf Blitzer on CNN. During the interview, Sanders was asked how he would get his secondary education plans past a divided Congress. He said--and I shit you not--that he would have "a million" or so "young people" march on Washington!

That was his plan.

Besides being clueless like a character from Green Acres--watch Sanders' New York Daily News interview--he has also been instrumental in supporting the gun culture in America. If you want to count dead bodies, the wounded, and hospital vigils, I would suggest you consider the 15 million Americans killed or wounded by guns since the first of Senator Sanders' 15 pro-NRA votes, my friend.

And the rest of your argument is a strawman. I have many reasons for voting for Secretary Clinton. Fifteen million reasons is just a start.

Along with an empty wallet, because when Hilliary is declared the candidate and runs against Drumpf, I will still have them after the election. The only exceptions are that I will have to work more for less money, and pay more for my health insurance, because Hilliary wants to give more to them, and Drumpf wants to let them take over. So I will still be chained to the job, and my wallet will be emptier.
If it comes down to Hilliary or Drumpf, we are ALL screwed.

The latter depends on a good running mate like Julian Castro, Joaquin Castro, or Tom Perez to engender optimal enthusiasm among Hispanics and youth.

It depends on how confident Secretary Clinton feels. Even with the safe bets, Brown, Kaine or Biden, it would be an electoral map landslide of 2008-Obama-like proportions. Just my opinion, but book it!

69. You do realize the following:
Sun Jun 5, 2016, 11:36 PM
Jun 2016

(1) Secretary Clinton came out against the TPP deal, and (2) it is actually cheaper to manufacture goods in the United States now than in the average factory of our trading partners?

As for number two, above, it was much, much cheaper to manufacture elsewhere in the 1990s and early 2000s. Look it up. You won't have to feel so dour on this Historic occasion.

89. How do you know a TPP deal,
Mon Jun 6, 2016, 01:15 AM

re-worked, would be? Be specific. It is cheaper to manufacture in the United States, comparatively speaking, than it was in the 1990s (think cheap natural gas). Also, if you claim that the arbitration provisions will be THE DEATH OF DEMOCRACY like Senator Sanders claims, then I know that you, like him, have not done your homework.

The US is 13-0 in arbitration matters under NAFTA. That's a fact. And if you look up the old WTO and GATT arbitrations, you'll find that they didn't end Democracy. In fact, some of the matters are 30-years old because the United States doesn't have to abide by any ruling, or it can offer a compromise (i.e. 20% off each pallet of widgets).

The environmental benefits (over-fishing and deforrestation provisions, among others) of the TPP would be lost because we'd have no other leverage, and, finally, there's the potential of ceding these emerging markets to China.

I don't know if the TPP would be good or bad. If you claim that you do, you are not credible.

The important thing to do is to penalize and tax American companies that off-shore jobs. I think Secretary Clinton and President Obama understand that. I know that Senator Sanders is off in left field on the issue of the TPP. I have read his statements on the subject, and they are childish, as in something I would expect as homework from a not-completely-unintelligent junior high school student.

At the funeral of my present status as a Democrat.
Black for the lack of integrity of people I once respected like Maddow and most of the sellouts at MSNBC.
Black for the fact that we are giving Trump what he wants. A weak candidate that is a living GOTV machine for the Republicans.
The loss is going to piss so many off.
