Sanders gets Secret Service protection

By Eliza Collins

02/03/16 01:23 PM EST

Bernie Sanders is receiving Secret Service protection, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed to Politico on Wednesday.

“Following an official request from the campaign, and after consultation with a congressional advisory committee pursuant to the statutorily prescribed process, Secretary of Homeland Jeh Johnson authorized United States Secret Service protection for presidential candidate Bernie Sanders,” a spokeswoman from DHS said in an email.

In order for protection to begin, the DHS secretary must approve a request after reviewing a list of criteria and consulting a committee that includes the speaker of the House, the House minority leader, the Senate majority and minority leaders and an additional member the committee has chosen.

Judging from the way Hillary gets criticized for repeatedly wearing her pantsuit ensembles, I'm certain this one will get a lot of use and not sit in the closet.

Maybe some of these fashionistas could drop her a lne about how true Democrats only ever wear sackcloth and ashes. That has been a persistant theme over many years here. Nonetheless, I notice St Bernie bought a new suit.

He famously told the Saturday Evening Post, "I am not a liberal at all, I’m not comfortable with those people.”

He called for an increase in military spending, specifically missile production. “We must refuse to accept a cheap, second-best defense."

On taxes he warned that high-tax rates “reduce the financial incentives for personal effort, investment, and risk-taking.”

He slashed tariffs to promote free trade.

He wasn't a big supported of federal assistance to the needy. “I do not believe that Washington should do for the people what they can do for themselves through local and private effort.”

Really? And I'm not supposed to call you out as a troll? The Republicans are terrified of running against Hillary, they are salivating at the chance to run against Bernie.

*walmart* she'd be accused of pandering.

Give me a break.

(BTW, do you know who previous presidents wear?)

I find what Romney did when he said he bought a shirt at Costco to be offensive. This is a non-issue, she can afford it and she wears it.

If she were a man this would be a non-issue -- unless, as you brought up it were rMoney and his Costco pandering. Nobody gave a flying fig about his clothing for pretty much the entire campaign.

Be the opposite, if Hillary were a man, they would be praising how great the suit was.

I am not going to knock a woman for her wardrobe.

And I damn sure am not going to play into the OP's meme.

as I said above: if she dressed down she would be called a panderer. It's not a cool place for people to go.

What she wears has zero bearing on my support, however I do think she needs a new clothing consultant.

I didn't realize that being poor was a prerequisite before speaking about income inequality. Then Eleanor Roosevelt shouldn't have spoken against it, after all, she was a wealthy woman.

This site has become just as embarrassing as any RW site.
