Related: About this forumAre you now more or less likely to support Hillary Clinton?
Having been declared the "presumptive nominee" by AP and NBC the night before the California primary,
are you more or less likely to support her in the general election?

(7,299 posts)period in the process. A month from now, as emotions subside, a more accurate glimpse can be attained IMO.

(18,837 posts)She's still not a candidate I believe in, but it has nothing to do with AP.

(10,164 posts)It was already impossible for me to be less likely to support Hillary Clinton.

(13,305 posts)...and the same way I did when she was running against Obama.
She'll get my vote because Trump is so goddamned awful. But I still don't like her. I don't like her as a politician. I don't like her public persona. I don't trust her one bit.
I won't donate to her or the DNC if doubling down on military friendly economic centrism is where the party establishment is staking it's claim. I won't make one phone call on her behalf. I won't stuff one envelope. I won't even be bothered to argue with anyone who doesn't like her and are saying they won't vote for her. There's no way I'd be able to provide a convincing argument beyond "Trump sucks." and even that is more of my time than I feel Hillary is worth.
Sure there are still "what if"'s such as who her running mate is. But given how the Democratic party has been ravaged by the cancerous third way, sensible centrist dems, other than Elizabeth Warren or Russ Feingold (neither of which are going to happen), I can't imagine who she'd pick that would actually get me excited or be able to overlook her myriad flaws.

(16,974 posts)For the top ticket. More than likely she will now move to the right and pick a poll tested VP.

(4,311 posts)I understand how you feel. My candidate has lost in the past too, and I have held my nose many times. But you'll vote for her; you're a good Democrat.

(13,305 posts)If her opponent were anyone other than Trump I wouldn't be voting for her. And I've already switched my registration to independent after 30 years as a loyal, registered, party line voting, donating, canvassing, envelop stuffing Democrat.
If Trump wins it destroys the country as we know it. If Hillary wins, it will solidify the already years along, slow destruction of the Democratic party as I've known it my entire life. I need something more than "not as bad as the other guy" to keep me an active member and the party doesn't offer anything more than that.

(16,974 posts)She has done nothing to win my support . My views are the same and my vote or non-vote is unchanged.

(21,716 posts)That said, I will vote for the democratic nominee over the tRump, because tRump in just unthinkable. She is not my candidate of choice. Don't know if you would say I "support" her, but I will vote for the democratic candidate.

(72,790 posts)I don't care for Ms. Clinton. I still think she's awful. But, the people have spoken. And the majority of the people who voted so far in the DEM primary voted for Ms. Clinton. I respect democracy. Barring death or disaster, Ms. Clinton will be the DEM nominee. I long ago accepted that she will be the nominee, and I ok with it, as much as I can be.
