2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary has won. Bernie has lost. Now the cause is beating FrankenTrump. Period.
Disappointment in politics happens. Someone wins, and someone loses. That's the way it goes. We have all been there with this disappointment at one time or another. Nothing was stolen. There was no fraud. So enough of that please, once and for all. Bernie lost because he received fewer votes. He always knew it was a long shot. He SAID so early on. In fact, it took him a long time to determine if he should even run at all. Bernie and his supporters can take pride in knowing they did much better than expected and brought attention to some major issues.
Now it is time to defeat the man who Bernie says would be a "disaster" and who is a "pathological liar." Anyone who is truly "progressive" can only conclude that the cause, as Bernie has said, is much bigger than Bernie himself or any candidate. It is about what is best for the nation. FrankenTrump is a racist, misogynistic monster who must not be allowed to get anywhere near the White House. He is a disgusting sub-human who belongs in a pig sty, not the nation's capital. It is just as simple as that. For any real progressive, this is the ultimate no-brainer.

(80,708 posts)It sounds goofy, plus there's gotta be 100 better nicknames for that bloated, hairy sack of orange poo, that don't also invoke the name of our great Senator from MN.

(80,708 posts)I guess the governor of MN is a Democrat (had to look that up) so that works.
The only article I read mentioning Franken on the list said something about "he admitted to cocaine use during his hard-partying SNL years"... okay, so? Obama admitted the same thing. And most Americans now realize the drug war has been a misguided failure. So 'youthful indiscretions' aren't the dealbreaker they once were.
I think Franken would be a great choice, plus I'd love to see him up there on the debate stage against whoever the hell Trump sticks on that ticket.

(13,570 posts)FrankenTrump is WONDERFUL and describes him perfectly: A monster created by the GOP.
It obviously has nothing to do with Al Franken. Good Christ.

(80,708 posts)You do what you need to do. Don't be surprised if it doesn't catch on, though. Just my 2 cents.

(60,334 posts)I liked Edwards early on (that was a mistake). Then I sided with Hillary but when it was all said and done, I stood with Obama to make history.
The end game here is to place the best candidate against whatever clown the republicans throw on stage, and there have been many clowns.
We cannot let the republicans, specifically a fascist republican like Trump have reign in this nation. This election is more critical to the country's future than any in our life time.
