2016 Postmortem

Give it a week or two!
Having been through many primaries and elections, this is always a difficult time. Those who have poured
their hearts and souls into both campaigns are raw with emotion right now. Just like all things you put your
heart into, the wins are great, and the losses can be devastating. In the past, I too felt the world was certainly on the brink of disaster, becasue candidate X was nominated/elected. In retrospect, I may have overreacted. Well, maybe not in the case of GWB.
Hillary supporters are rightfully joyous, and on the otherhand, Sanders' folks are rightfully not. Unfortunately,
this is the nature of political campaigns. While Skinner's recent announcement about reigning in the tone
and personal attacks, etc., was much-needed and a welcome sight, trying to implement a new "kinder gentler DU" today, when Sanders supporters are blowing off some steam, is what the Brits might call "bad form", even if it may be correct according to the rules, and recent opinions from our DU leaders.
Let's all take a deep breath. Those who need to take a break, we hope you come back. Been there, done that! While I am still pissed off at the way this primary was conducted by the DNC, and the misuse of the superdelegates, and IMHO I believe DWS has sullied the Democrat brand, I will support Hillary vs Trump. For those who so passionately supported Bernie and the revolution, I hope you will continue to do so, as I will too, but when it comes to making sure Donald Trump never sets foot in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, I hope we unite in this crucial task.

(14,255 posts)This more than just a little snit to get over - I would be ashamed to unify behind someone who is, proudly, a Third Way neocon. Really, my principles do mean something to me.
I will just stick with Bernie's revolution. No matter who is leading it or participating in it. Any pandering from the Democratic Party about adopting any of Bernie's ideas is pure unadulterated lying.

(19,841 posts)The Democratic Party has NO intention, now or in the near future, of adopting anything substantial from Bernie's platform.
Back to business as usual. To the continued detriment of everything we care about in this country. Hillary has her hands tied in so many ways. She is competent to reign, but compromised in effecting any real change.
