2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumClinton's speech was great last night
I have been a Sanders supporter but could easily support Clinton.
Last night watching Clinton's speech really touched me at a deep level.
On one level, she hit the right liberal notes.
On another level she was obviously sincere.
It was all "we" and "us" not "I."
On a political level she knocked it out of the park and spoke with the confidence of a leader.
At the end, I wondered how my daughters felt. A woman president is something we've all been wanting. It hit me that they are lucky to witness something none of us ever thought would happen. A woman heading a major party in America.
Yes, Clinton has faults. She is now the head of the party. This household is happy and proud to support Ms. Clinton.
We have many friends who are Clinton supporters. We are happy for them.
As an added dimension, Iowa now has a woman candidate with the real chance of dethroning Chuck Grassley. What a great day that will be. Plus a couple of great female candidates for Iowa's congressional seats. Monica Vernon in the 1st district has a real chance to win. Kim Weaver in the 4th has the unenviable task of taking on Steve King.
Just wanted to say congratulations to our new leader and gear up for the general.

(4,311 posts)I cried all through her speech last night. Of course I'm a middle-aged woman and probably hormonal, lol, but yeah. It's an amazing moment. Thank you for your gracious post!
